Hesitate/stall on full thorttle - Click HERE for Original Thread

Just this week I have had something develop which may be a bad fuel issue, clogged fuel filter, fuel pump, ignition or fuel injection problem.

Floored the accelerator to get into traffic and the car basically almost stalled--hesitated for about 1-2 second and slowly accelerated. No problem with less than full throttle. It felt like full thorttle = no throttle.

Anybody else experienced this symptom? I need to get into the dealer on this.

If your X is a '03 or a '04, the problem could also be caused by the "throttle-by-wire" system. Regardless, what you described should not happen, and I'd definitely recommend taking it in to the dealer.

Was the vehicle at full operating temperature? or was it fully warmed up? or did you just start and go? If not fully warmed up, this may be normal. If fully warmed up then have the dealer check the throttle by wire system.

How's your EGR valve? Had it replaced yet?

No, but I don't think it's a maintenance item at 13,000 miles/1 year. I'll take a look in the maintenance manual.

It's not a normal maint. item, but several have failed -- usually with a combination of Check Engine and VTM-4 lights coming on.

What model year is your X?

A Bad EGR valve or anything else in the EGR system going bad would not cause a hesitation at full throttle. It would cause a rough idle and rough running at low speeds.

I would try to replicate the problem and see if the check engine light comes on so that the computer can store the trouble data so your dealer can retrieve the info and diagnose the problem. Otherwise, try to take notes of how, when, where, what happened so that your technician can replicate the problem.
