| I recently posted a "low speed bucking" thread, and after taking it to the dealer for service, EGR was replaced and bucking gone. |

MannyE......Did you experience the bucking right after initial start up when accelerating??? Did it go away once the engine warmed up??
Navy.....The EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. Exhaust gas is routed back into the combustion chamber because the exhausted air is much hotter than the intake air (try touching a muffler sometime). By sending warmer gas into the combustion chamber, the air/fuel mix does not have to do as much work to heat up, and your engine runs more efficiently. It does not have any physical link to the transmission.
Thanks

Navy, I am still under warranty, so I did not have to pay. I guess without experiencing both enging misfire/wallow AND transmission bucking it would be hard to tell the difference.
We are planning another trip up to Disney (as soon as I can settle my nerves from the last visit...keep thinking about the children...it's for the children...) so I will keep an eye on the behavior of the X on the way up.
On the way down I am going to be switching to mid-grade and also report back on any mpg improvements. I keep hearing the stories on here about 20 or more mpg and I am amazed. I've never gotten better than 17mpg on a tank, and that was during the last trip to.....::shudder:: Disney.
So if I experience any engine/tranny funny business on the way back, there will be the mid-grade fuel variable to keep in mind.
From what I remember, if it is going to happen, it will happen when I leave the second rest stop we usually hit on our way ....there... :crying:
I can't remember what it is right now.... It's about 60 miles south of the demon wasteland...uhhhh I mean Kissemee. |
