With 600 miles the engine would not start. Turn ignition switch off and tried again and it started.

Several times since I have had the starter grind a long time before starting.

Dealer admits to the problem with no solution.

Anyone else experience this problem.

Taken from a post of mine in another current thread:
Next time it happens, pay close attention to the "key" symbol in the instrument cluster. If the "key" symbol continues to blink on and off for as long as the ignition switch is turned on ("run" position), and quits blinking as soon as the key is turned off, then it IS the immobilizer system keeping the engine from starting. (Hint: try turning the key over and trying again.) If it doesn't blink when the key is on, but blinks five times after the key is turned off, then the immobilizer system is happy with the key, and the problem lies elsewhere.

The purpose of the immobilizer is to keep the fuel pump from running if it THINKS that the key being used is not a proper match for the car. Some folks say that, if you wait a few seconds after inserting the key before turning it on, it will help.
