Client asked me to verify the authenticity of FRN's. Any website or service that allows me to do such?

Thanks in advance as usual.

...the numbers are a combination of pure sequence and descriptive origination point. (they DO NOT release the details of this to non-law enforcement becuase then criminals could reverse enginer fakes to really mess with the feds)

The Bureau of Printing & Engraving gets the requests from the Federal Reserve Board and delivers the stuff.

Once it is in circulation it is a Secret Service function to detect fakes: http://www.secretservice.gov/money_detect.shtml They have five or six linked pages with the most obvious fakes.

I suppose you could call a SS field office and read 'em the serial number, but if you don't have the note in your possesion I would not -- if the number comes up as a fake they will expect you to send it to them, if you don't they will investigate YOU as possible counterfeiter -- not fun.

There is a tremendous amount of conterfiet currency in circulation. If you have any doubts that the stuff is real, just do not take it...

How does a bank then verify FRN's when someone brings them to their office?

I'm talking about $1M and higher denominations.
