Members in Ohio beware.
I don't know if they are only going after cars but the X does have the VTEC engine. See the link below, I have also posted the story in this thread.

Police Warn Car Owners About Brazen Theft Ring
Police are calling people involved in an auto theft ring so brazen that they are putting out an urgent warning to motorists.
Investigators say the ring is operating out of Cleveland's lower west side and targeting cars with a popular VTEC engine.
People are stealing the cars, taking the motors and, in some cases, vandalizing the cars before they leave them behind. Police say these criminals even stalk owners with cars that have the high-tech performance
engines.
Instead of just ripping the motor out and leaving the car, these vehicles usually end up trashed with a special note inside.
"They steal the car, rip the motor out and in some cases vandalize the car more by smashing windows, throwing paint on the car, ripping the interior up," said Cleveland police Sgt. David Rutt.
"They've gone as far as taunting the auto theft unit by leaving messages scraped on the cars asking them to catch us if you can," Rutt said.
Police say 20 cars within three months have been trashed. The expensive motor is a hot item on the racing market.
Detectives say tracking the criminals before they do more damage isn't the only concern. Owners of these souped-up rides may soon find themselves in real danger.
"They may attempt to do carjackings is what we worry about," Rutt said.
Give Crime Stoppers a call at (216) 252-7463 if you have any information that could help police. |

| They are probably stealing GSRs, SIs, and type-Rs. I wouldnt worry about them stealing the X. |

| Agreed, they are after the 'Fast & Furious' cars engines, not SUVs. Sounds like they are rather F and F. |

yup theysteal them for engine swaps.
like type r engines to civic.
they would even steal non vtec engines because they replace
a non-vtec head with a vtec head, e.i. an integra LS bottom with a gsr vtec head.
the prelude also is a ot engine for a civic.
i guess these kids are the new generations hot rodders |

Yes, but the old generation would rarely steal parts for racing. At least not in SoCal. Not to say they were all a bunch of fine upstanding law-abiding citizens. But in most cases they were just that except for illegal racing on backroads, or if lucky enough, abandoned airstrips. |

stealing now for parts would be one difference from the old timers.
that's why i called them new generations because of their new ways of racing and new ways of thinking, among other things.
One more difference is the displacement thinking. Before displacement was a big thing, now it's more than that.
Now the smaller the engine and the more power you can squeeze out of it the better. |

But we did have the small block chevy V8's beating up some big blocks on the strip for a while. Until the hemis started getting serious.
And yes, it's incredible what kind of power they can pull out of small engines now, even unblown. |
