Yep, it's true. Took a business trip to Merrillville, IN, Indianapolis, IN and finished in Peoria, IL. For those of you not familiar with the latter, it is a city of about 350,000 people so is it is a major small city. The address I was visiting is downtown however the digital map stopped about 4 blocks east of the address. The message displayed on the screen was area not digitized. Very surprising since part of the city was mapped.

In the two other cities along with the Chicago area where I live, are completely mapped. Just curious why the system short changes the folks in Peoria, Illinois. Maybe because the closest Acura dealer is 140 miles away!!

Remery,

Consider yourself lucky! No Nav at all in the Great White North (although our major cities -- Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver -- have been mapped, we still don't know when Nav will be offered)!

Although I go to Peoria all the time and really don't need the navi there. I was playing with it last weekend showing a friend how it worked. It has certain thing on it like the McCluggage bridge, probabley the McMurray bridge is on there. I know some of the roads aren't on there except for the main ones used all the time. Another thread said in a couple of years they will have pretty much all the roads on the navi (would be nice). I know when I go to Chicago ALL the roads are on there. I wish it were like that in all cities in all states.

By-the-way your weren't in Peoria about 2 or 3 weeks ago? I saw a silver MDX there. The only one I've seen so far around here :). I love being the almost the only one with this vehicle. It get the heads turning around here :D. Let me know when you come to Peoria again. I'll be going back to Joe Rizza Acura in a couple of weeks to get my seat back. Can't wait. It's odd driving around without it.

remery-
Did you try to recal on the navi? Maybe it had a different way in it's little computer mind. I know on a road I was going to when I put the McCluggage bridge on it--it wanted me to zigzag my way to the main road instead of going straight. Of course I went straight and it wasn't digitalized. Don't ask me why. Also look in your navi book that you get with the owners manual and it will tell you which cities in what state have most of their roads on the navi system.

lmeans,
The curious thing about Peoria was the digitized mapping stopped at Hamilton Street and no further. The way I programmed the Navi was to approximately locate the destination downtown on the non-digitized portion of the map. This way I was able to drive from Indy and get distance and estimated travel time since I know my way around Peoria.

The silver MDX you saw was not me since I own a Mahogany one with fender flares and lower trim. When you drive to Joe Rizza on I-55 you drive right past my house which is visible from the expressway. I stopped at the Goodfield Shell to take advantage of the price which was 20 cents less than in Chicago. Also saw a pickup truck loaded with unhappy goats there, any friend or relative of yours?:D:D
I'm afraid not. I don't have family that are farmers of any kind around here. LOL!!!! But my dad does get his diesel fuel from the Shell in Goodfield all the time. I'll remember to look for Mohogany next time.

And about your house on I-55, there's too many houses along their to pick out yours.

One more thing I don't know why the navi would quit at Hamilton since the Hospital is close to there. I wonder if you put in Methodist Hospital if it would get you there? Who knows. At least you knew your way around and didn't need the navi or you would have had to do the non-manly thing and stop at a gas station and ask for directions instead of just looking at gas prices. :D

Are you sure, the goats looked like pets to me.:D:D As for my abode, it is the dark brick ranch with a stone wall in front halfway between Lemont Road and Cass Avenue with dog fur all over the driveway!:D:D

Remery,
you will have to wait until the FALL 2002 DVD release, when there will supposedly be FULL COVERAGE of the entire United States....Remember what I said in my previous posts ;) However, it IS odd that only PART of a city is not covered.....hopefully this will be corrected in the supposed "enhancements" and "revisions" I was told that are being made to the database in the next release.

I had a thought last night for the the incomplete coverage in Peoria. They have done an extensive amount of development along the riverfront in the past 2 years and I wonder if they decided rather than putting out-of-date info in, just removed this portion of the map until it is updated. If this is the case, then the Acura elves get some more kudos because wrong directions are worse than no directions at all.:D
They are putting new restaurants and bars down by the river front, but they always had things down there. The roads have been there forever. I don't know why they would wait to put the roads on the navi unless they just wanted to wait and see what they were putting on the river front for the catagory section. I don't know. I guess all we can do is wait and see.

I ABSOLUTELY agree !!.....Do you recall all those people that, when asked for directions, just point you in SOME direction and get you all messed up, instead of just saying...."I'm sorry, I don't know where that is" !!
