Groupbuy **photo License Plate Protectors** - Click HERE for Original Thread

Mr Zipps
A few people at meets have asked where I've gotten the plate protector so I hunted down the email address. I've been in contact with a women in Canada about getting a group buy on these photo license plate protectors. I've had them on my car for about a year without a problem. They still look brand new. They are guaranteed not to yellow and they are shatterproof. People who have seen me at meets can tell you these things really work and blur out your plate numbers.

It only blurs your plate number when looking at certain angles (ie. left and right and overhead) So if you get pulled over the cops will only see a clear lens covering the plate. This will save you from getting a ticket in the mail by those red light cameras or toll cameras.

She can only give me 1 discounted price so it doesnt matter if 1 person or 30 people buy its the same price.

Price per plate protector:
$24.00 shipped for the first one
$20.00 for any additional shipped to the same address

If you have any question feel free to ask here or you can email me at Mr_Zipps@yahoo.com. I will be ordering them next Sunday night so all orders need to be in by then.

All payment to my PayPal account Mr_Zipps@yahoo.com I only accept bank transfers. I will only put in your order once I receive your money..

Here are some pics.. Your will have to copy and paste to view.

Try again. Those links do not work. In Texas you can't have anything covering your plate. Actually I think my acuramdx.org license plate frame is in violation. But I will stick with it!

These pics should work.

...but if I were a law maker I'd propose a bill that any vehicle that had that crap over the the license plate should be forfeited to state and crushed.

If you don't like photoradar or red light cameras try and get 'em over-turned by the legistature or the judicary. Having these "obscured license plate" pieces of BULL**** are basically a statement to the rest of the driving public that the arrogant SOB behind the wheel of this vehicle doesn't think that laws apply to them. They can use toll roads for free, blow through redlights whenever they want, and speed on any street they feel like, without regard for the residents who may have fought hard to get a reduced speed limit, stop sign and/or photo enforcement.

Sure, photo radar & red light cameras are "all about revenue", but these license plate covers are "all about breaking the law".

In my mind such a person has pretty much adopted the attitude of a terrorist -- I don't care about the law, I don't care about the safety of others, I want to do what I want to do when I want to do it. I will hide my identity and make others fear me.

Thus, just I believe that it impossible to reason with terrorists, I think the only suitable punishment for a person owning such a vehicle with obscured license plate is destruction/confiscation. In my mind this is a much more direct like than the federal drug laws that allow vehicle seizure -- this is seizing a potential lethal instrument from the ownership of a TERRORIST!

I am not a saint, or even a perfect driver. I have gotten speeding tickets, mostly on the interstate but in town too. I have gotten tickets for failing to come to complete stop at a traffic control device. I have gone to court, paid my fine and I'd like to think I drive a little bit safer. I have lived next to a fairly well traveled street and the ROAR of morons accelerating from a stop have ruined many an evening cookout for me. I have kids and a dog, and although I am constantly trying to keep them in my sight, I also know that tragedy could happen with mere seconds of distraction, especially becuase even the differnce in trying to stop from 25 MPH (which is the speed on most residential streets) and trying to stop from 30MPH+ {which nobody calls 'fast'} could mean CAR LENGHTS of extra travel/extra potential for tragedy.

I would NEVER attempt to "hide my identity" with such a device. I proudly RIDICULE anyone who would do so...

I don't like the 'hard to see' plates either. In fact you can get pulled over for that alone. In California it is illegal to have any cover over your plates, no matter how clear.

I hardly use my radar detector anymore. As years have gone by I've learned to drive more responsibly. (Yes, it's taken more years than it probably should)...And if I am not being responsible, perhaps I should be pulled over.

I turn 'chicken' now when the light goes yellow if I have not yet entered the intersection. And using other turning cars as a shield against a redlight to save a minute?

For me driving responsibly has not meant driving slow. I like to drive fast, within reason, and where. It's a matter of knowing what's around you with regards to risk. The one to human life being the most relevant of course.

As to red light cameras, I have expressed my thoughts on that more than once. And yes, it is a revenue collector, but red light runners have the most to fear, and rightly so. They are responsible for some of the most horrendous accidents next to speed/reckless drivers.

There has been more than one case where the cameras caught criminals as well as drivers who were just responsible for a subsequent fatal accident.

If they save one life, or help police capture, and the courts expedite prosecution of these ##sholes, so be it!

No offense, Mr. Zipps, for there was a time I probably would have ordered something like this, but that was before there were lives more precious to risk beyond my own. And those include folks I don't even know.

Red light running is a major problem in our area, and the recent installation of cameras at many of our intersections don't seem to have curtailed it much IMO. Maybe these folks have these "irresponsible" covers on their plates?

I don't know HOW effective they really are. And how can you measure that? If you know the SAME people keep running redlights, then it is not very effective at all.

I remember the one incident about 2 months ago at Shaw and Blackstone when some nut (not even drunk, and a licensed driver rushing home in his pickup) ran the light lost control, and killed an elderly couple when ramming their small Honda sedan against other cars in the right lane.

The police said the video from the camera will make it a open and shut case.

 Shaw and Blackstone - I avoid that intersection at all costs, that's red light runnin' madness. Herndon and First is another, especially with left turners turning left on First from the west bound traffic. :cursin:

Camera aren't all they are cracked up to be. It's interesting to look at accident statistics in places where cameras are installed. In some instances, and I say some, the number of accidents is up. And why? People are paranoid for a ticket so they slam on the brakes to stop and they get rear-ended. Not wanting to chance a ticket drivers stop when they really should have continued. It's a real problem for trucks and vehicles with trailers.

Personally I'm not a fan of red light cameras, but I'm not going to risk covering the plate and getting tagged at some surprise checkpoint when I'm not doing anything wrong anyway.

I agree and so does the State of Texas - such devices are big time illegal here. In my opinion anyone causing an accident that uses such a device should be jailed. If I am injured (or anyone in my family is) by a redlight runner using such a device I will sue claiming the driver intended to do harm because using such a device shows intent to run redlights. I am sure users will disagree - but all I will say is do NOT hit me. :1:

Why would I want blurry plate numbers???

In Texas you WILL get a bigger ticket if you get pulled over for speeding!!! You get the ticket and you get fined for having the "clear" lens over your plate.

That's interesting. As much as I have thought about the cams in these discussions, I rarely give them a 2nd thought when I am on the road. If you drive properly there is no reason to be paranoid about cameras, anymore than having a police cruiser nearby. But I realize that's not the reality for everyone.
I also see a lot more mid-intersection wrecks than rear-enders. Not to say either one is desirable. I think the only real chance of detterence is to those who get caught by a camera. Hopefully it's before they have an accident. But have no problem snapping shots of folks cheating the light.
