hi everyone

we're expecting our 1st baby boy in 4 weeks and i need to decide what stroller to keep

we have the graco metrolite now with matching car seat from Babies R Us, still in the box.

I'm looking to return the graco and buy Peg perego from e bay instead.

i'm looking at the lightweight 2003 Aria(10lbs) for $130+shipping or the Pliko P3 for $159+ shipping(around $25).

my wife likes the aria bec of it's lightweight, but i'm liking the Pliko P3 because of its better padding. But the Pliko is 5 Lbs heavier. My wife is only 5'3" and it would be nice for her to load/unload the 10-lb
Aria

I' just confused right now.
thanks

Go with Pliko p3 you won't be disappointed, folds and unfolds in a snap, my wife is only 5' and has no problem with it. Also neat feature is the step at the back for an older child to get a ride on.

Good luck

We are expecting our 1st baby boy in a month. We went with the Graco Quatro Tour . Bought extra car seat for 2nd car. Very easy set up. Easily folds down to fit small trunk. And got very good reviews from most parents magazines. Check it out. Bought it at BABies r us.

We have a zooper, great quality GREAT customer service. We bought a floor model and inquired about missing parts, they sent ALL of them for free, a cup holder, a mesh bug screen, a rain guard cold weather cover.

Zooper are on the pricey side but they are bulletproof. We have taken ours on airlines and NOTHING has broken.

The Peg Perego strollers are very good. You really can't go wrong with them. Try to handle them in the store and make sure you like how the models push and how much they weigh.

Are you planning to get a Peg Perego car seat as part of the package? Their car seats are okay but not really better in many ways than the Graco. But the Peg Perego strollers are designed for the Peg Perego car seats.

Maclaren also makes a very good stroller but like Peg Perego, they're expensive. They tend to be lightweight and many of them have a very compact fold.

If you really want a light stroller, the Combi's tend to be some of the best at this. Most of them will accept various manufacturer's car seats. However, the lightness usually comes at the expense of some wobbliness in the stroller and, sometimes, durability.

A compromise approach for strollers is to get a snap-on frame for the car seat, and use that until the baby outgrows the infant seat. Then the baby moves to a true stroller that doesn't have to worry about attaching an infant seat. The best of this kind is the Kolcraft Universal Car Seat Carrier. The Baby Trend Snap'N'Go Deluxe is good, but the Kolcraft is better.

Who is going to be using the stroller most of the time??? If your wife is going to be using the stroller for your new son (congratulations, it is a great experience) I would put a whole lot of weight into what she wants. If you get the heavier stroller and she struggles with it and the kid, well, not a good situation -- unless you like sleeping in your MDX :roadtrip: :D

thanks everyone

bzboy congrats on your 1st baby boy. i wonder who get's there first--you or i am. LOL

we tried the the graco, peg, maclaren in babies r us. we liked the light Graco metrolite with the grac snugride. It feels easy to maneuver, easy to fold, car seat is easy to undo, it folds with 1 hand.

then i read the BABY BARGAIN book. They gave peg perego, combi, and maclaren an A. Garco i think was B. So went back to Babies R us and tried all of them. So far we go with Peg Pliko P3 and Aria.

you put good all together. Like a professional overview of the different strollers

x up north
u really are swaying me more to the Pliko P3 now.LOL

Warzau
thanks for the link. i'm gonna look at it now

hi weth
we usually go out together. But this is our 1st baby so i'm not really seeing the whole future.
But more likely we will continue to go out together with the baby. she only goes out by herself when absolutely necessary-the way she puts it.
so i guess another score for the peg perego Pliko3.

We have a 4 week old, and so far we are using the Baby trend snap n go with the baby trend infant seat. We liked the rigid latch attachment base, and really liked the handle. We think it's easier to carry than the peg or the graco, and they all got pretty much the same ratings.

The snap n go is great because it's much smaller and lighter than most of the travel system strollers, and is all we need for now until he gets a little older.

As far as a follow-on stroller, we are also looking at the Pliko P3, and the Maclaren techno. So far my wife likes the Peg, because she likes the bar across the front, which none of the Macs have.

Since we travel so much, I think we will also end up with a Mac Volo for the airports. I would rather pay more for one that will last than end up having it break while far away from home.

Of course, as my wife likes to say about me, as soon as someone puts out a stroller with an airbag, I'll be all over it.

My son is now 2, but we did both. We bought a Peg Perego system AND a seperate lightweight stroller. We left the lightweight in my wife's car, so when she was alone she used that, and the bigger Peg Perego in the X, so we used that when we were together, or I had him. That worked quite well for all parties involved. :)

Congrats on the baby!

My wife and I are expecting our first baby in September....and I have been given instruction to research all of the baby stuff. After reading a few reviews I found this one particularly useful and in line with some of the others. I have not done the testing piece of the research yet so I can not verify any of this but hope it helps you.

"The Baby Bargains Book" is an excellent resource for the soon-to-be parent. Everything from cribs to strollers to car seats to diaper disposal.

http://www.babybargainsbook.com/ has some message boards that are quite active on strollers. It's mostly populated by mommies but there's nothing like real-world advice from the owners of a variety of models for a product type. I read through them extensively when we purchased our double stroller (a monstrous but fantastic Mountain Buggy Urban Double). We also have an older (2000) Maclaren Techno single stroller which we like a lot, as well as a Baby Trend Snap'N'Go Deluxe.

The May 2003 Consumer Reports had an updated roundup on strollers, though they only test a small amount of what's out there on the marketplace. For regular strollers, they top-rated the Peg Perego Aria but also gave high marks to the Graco Metrolite.

With 2 kids, I have had many strollers over the years. We currently have a P3 which has been a really good choice for us, it is used almost every day! The Aria is a nice stroller as well, but I have read reports that the seat cushion is not very padded and may be a better stroller for a toddler than an infant/young baby. The Aria also has smaller wheels than the P3, it seems like it would be a better indoor "mall" stroller than an all around stroller like the P3. I use the P3 everywhere from indoors to tee-ball practice, and it handles all types of surfaces pretty well. The Maclarens are also very nice... very easy to steer and fold.

Good Luck!

The MDX of strollers...we bought our stroller a couple of years ago, the Combi Ultra Savvy Z was the way to go. This is a lightweight stroller that folds easily and very compact. It is one of the few strollers that can be pushed down an airlplane alley. The reasons we bought it:

*Very light-7 ounces
*Easily folds with one hand
*Only Compact that reclines all the way back for infants to ride in
*Great pattern choices

I think they have upgraded since we bought ours...it now has a place for a portable cd player...I guess for the Baby Mozart stuff.

Anyhow, give it a look.

The Aria is the worst!. We have it, child slides down with not much support built in. The way to go is the Peg. Atlantico. Get the winter version, comes with a boot. It is by far the best stroller in regards to weight, quality, durability, and so easy to puch. All aluminum frame, full suspension, big whells that dont get stuck, full reclining, and best of all, a sun shade that moves 180 so your kid is always in the shade. This stroller rocks! You can also get it as a travel system with very good carseat. Good for up to 5 months or so. Then you can go Britax. Hope this helps. Were also having our second this week :)

We are also expecting our first in a month! I would second the recommendation on the Baby Bargains book...they review just about everything in there.

We ended up going with the Evenflo Journey system. I have the similar concerns regarding weight however we decided the travel system would be best for the first year. This is a combo car seat/stroller/base.

Other recent parents have gone to lighter strollers as the child ages. I think barring any major recall, it's about what you personally feel comfortable with.

My natural next question is what correlation exists between newborns and MDX purchases =)?

Having a baby = Want a safe vehicle

The MDX saftey ratings greatly attributed to my purchase decision.
ironchef
agreed...we went w/ the 04 model specifically for enhanced safety features (yeah, really, it's not because I wanted both the Navi/RES)

thanks everyone for all your inputs on this stroller issue of mine.

last night i decided to get the 2003 Peg Perego Pliko P3 in e bay.
actually here's the other Peg the seller is auctioning.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...item=2393247546

i will be considering another lightweight stroller for my wife's car later on, possibly a combi or a maclaren.

i think we will keep the garco snug ride car seat. i'm gonna get the universal car seat adaptor for the pliko to make the graco fit.
bensmom243
Congratulations on your stroller purchase... babysurplus is great to deal with, I am embarassed to admit how many strollers/carseats I have purchased from them!

We also have a Maclaren Quest, which is a great light stroller for when your baby is a bit older.

Good Luck with the new baby!

I recently came back from Europe and I needed a lightweight umbrella type stroller. I chose the Mclaren Triumph stroller for its weight (13lbs) and portabilty. I was going to chose the McClaren Volo stroller but the Triumph came with more features like a clear removable rain/wind shield.
At the airport I seen about 3 strollers that had to go back to baggage check-in because it will not fit in the overhead compartments. My stroller fits perfectly.
In Paris with all the cobblestone roads I thought my stroller would fall apart but it held up quite well. In matter of fact the majority of the strollers Ive seen other people were using in London/Paris were Mclaren strollers since I think Mclaren is made in the UK.
This stroller is not for infants but for 6 months and up so perhaps this can be your second stroller. I paid $149 for mine.
ACKICK
Congrats!!!

I would suggest going with the Maclaren brand name. Awesome all around strollers. You won't be dissapointed.
They are the Mercedes Benz strollers....

Good Luck,
ACKICK.

It's been several years since we've had a child in a stroller, but I do remember that we had two or three. The one that got the most use was a running stroller made by Reebok. They don't make it any more, but there are similar units out there.

Why it was so good --

Well, the first reason is an obvious one -- my wife is a runner and she wanted to be able to go out without worrying about the kids.

But it goes way beyond that. It was a joy to use when just walking. It was awesome on even terrain -- pot holes, bumpy sidewalks, trails, grass (you wouldn't believe how hard it is to push a stroller on a lawn).

It folded completely flat -- the wheels came off easily and the entire unit weighed next to nothing. It was very easy to put in the trunk of a car or overhead in a luggage bin on an airplane. And it was narrow enough on the plane that it fit down the aisle.

Other strollers we had were typically flimsy, wobbly and just not worth the money. We did have a two-seater at one point that was very well built (I think it was a Peg Perego), but it was only really useful when both kids were in the stroller and we didn't want/need the running chair.

Best of luck!

Whoa, finally our boy is here. we tried the peg perego with the gracocar seat tody and it worked well.

the graco fits well into the pliko p3 and it handled so well.
our 4-day old boy did not complain.

highly reccommended for a starter stroller.
Now i'm on to shopping a triumph as a lightweight stroller for my wife. If i can take a break editing my hundreds of pictures with Photoshop .

thanks again for all your inputs

Congratulations on the new baby!

For those of you who used the Peg with the Graco car seat what adapter, if any, did you buy. Where did you get it and how much?

Thanks,
Dan

thanks guys

i tried a pliko car seat adapter from e bay for $26 but i think
it only fits on the pliko because it did not fit our pliko P3 classico.

i had a week vacation to and it went really fast

wife is breastfeeding and helps a lot at night so we don't have to get up to get a bottle.

We originally had a Graco Travel System which included a big heavy stroller with 8" air-filled tires that the baby seat could clip into. Much too heavy to take in and out of the MDX for my 5' tall wife.

As soon as the baby was big enough we got a Maclaren Volo plus the optional clear rain/wind shield and padding. Incredible stroller, feels much more sturdy than the Combi but only weighs 8lbs and steers and folds more easily than anything else I've seen. Now we use the big Graco for outdoor walks in the woods near home etc and the Volo stays in the car for shopping trips and indoor use.
