Clean and sleek but not much presence - nothing like the sketches from last week. Interior is nice. New Infiniti M45 looks more interesting (except rear lights).

| Nice thought the front looks like a bottom feeder. The rear reminds me alot of a Merc. Side nice and simple. Wheel are okay. I'll go with the TL instead. |

The front looks like last gen. camary. I like the sketch better.

| I really like the interior. I don't dislike the exterior and overall, it's fine. But the exterior needs to be more jazzed up. It's got that really conservative, "pleasant" Acura/Honda exterior to it. Nothing special, nothing distinctive. Maybe they figure their target demographic are people who are 50 and above (no insult intended to those here who are 50 and above). Isn't the average age of an Accord buyer now around 50? |

I LIKE it, a lot.
I bet it drives beautifully, too!
That interior is incredible. I definitely approve!!
It'll be on my next-possible-car list for sure.
Definitely cool. :2: |

| I like it a lot! Can't wait to test drive one when they come out. How much horsepower is this puppy going to have? Anyone have any 0-60 figures yet? |

| BEAUTIFUL VEHICLE. FITS THE RL CLASS EXCELLENTLY! I JUST HOPE THAT REAR END IS NOT TOO SHORT, BUT MAYBE IT JUST LOOKS LIKE THAT IN THE PIC. |

I agree. Looks like a cross between a 300M and an some other Chrysler product. Needs more character on the exterior. |

| I'm very interested. I've owned several Lexus GS 4 series cars, and am looking forward to the new GS. I've never considered the RL before, but this one seems to have the right stuff. |

HAS EVERYONE LOST THEIR SENSE OF STYLE IN THIS FORUM?
I expected more from Acura MDX owner since the MDX style is extraordinary compared to other SUV in its class. Which part of the interior attracts you people? It looks like a Toyota Corolla.
I would consider the TL over the newly designed RL. The new TL blows me away and the MDX is class leading SUV. This one blows. |

| I immediately like it. I wish I could say the same for the new Corvette. |

| X4ME |
| Sorry but I have to admit I am disappointed in Acura. After their marked product improvements with the TSX and TL I expected more from them with respect to sedans. All I see is a fancy Accord - what's up with that? This thing does not make me want to rush into a dealer and plunk down my cash. |

I went to an Acura dealership yesterday (where I bought my MDX) to ask them about the new model which is due in August. Surprisingly they had heard about the new RL and seen photos. They guessed it would be the same price as the current one at about $48k. The engine is a 3.5 V6 producing 300HP. It doesn't look exciting at all in the photos but perhaps it will have more presence in real life.
I also took the opportunity to test drive a TL with auto - I was far more impressed than my prior test drive 5 months ago, and I couldn't see the torque steer that was pretty obvious before. Incredible car for the money, especially if Acura adds AWD for 2005 (wishful thinking on my part). If I can't afford a new RL/GS300/M35 next year then the TL might be a good cheap alternative. |

| I am NOT a fan of metallic interiors. Metal looks cheap in my opinion; at least plood tries to look like wood  Real leather and real wood is the way to go - metal cars remind me of cheap cars from long ago  |

The 2005 four-door, top-end sedan gets a complete makeover and what Acura calls SH-AWD, for super handling all-wheel drive.
SH-AWD sends up to 70% of power to either end, depending on traction needs. It will funnel power to the outside rear wheel in a corner to help steer the car precisely around. Except in emergencies, the system does not trigger the anti-skid system to apply brakes on the inside wheels to help cornering.
Acura also says RL will have the USA's first real-time traffic warning system. It uses government data and the navigation system to alert drivers to construction cones, traffic jams, etc.
Look for RL this fall, priced about $50,000. |

| Performance Michelin tires on 20-inch wheels are features on the Acura RL Prototype. Will these fit on the MDX?? |

| Front looks nasty. I would get a Lexus for that money. |

| By the looks of the new RL, which I think looks sweet (except that joy stick crap on the console), it will target the new lexus GS series cars. I wouldnt be surprised if we see a car targeting the LS Series soon but this isnt it. For $48K, this car will be worth every cent. |
|
|
| TulsaMDX |
| Hands down better than the old RL. |
|
|
| The X-men |
| The joy stick crap definitely got to go, Acura should have learn their lesson from the BMW 7 series with that much hated joy stick controller. Otherwise, the RL looks great from the side and the back. The interior is up to par with any thing a Lexus can offer. The front is a bit plain, but thats alway been Acura's style, keep it simple. If you want a radical looking car, go buy a Infinity. |
|
|
| Lrpba300 |
| The front-end is def. Acura / TL-ish, but simple. Back-end is Acura CL-ish & some Chrysler-ish but nice. The Inter. is NICE. That's how a luxury car should be. Now, for the power, that's a whole nother story:4: |
|
|
| Lrpba300 |
| ... just read some on RL & I got to say, a 300 HP VTEC engine & an all-wheel-drive system, sounds pretty nice. May have to drive one to see if it's a future buy! :4: |

| Does Honda/Acura have a V8 engine? Lexus and Infiniti do. When are we going to see a V8 from Acura? |
|
|
| pelucidor |
| Honda/Acura has never built a V8 engine for production cars. They do not believe it is necessary if the V6 is good enough. |

| From the front it looks like a Chrysler. From the side its a TL and the back end reminds me of the Accord. I'll stick with my TL and expect the new MDX model to add XM radio, hands free link, and a great sound system in a revamped interior. I do think the MDX interior is good for this class of car. |
|

| The back, from the side, reminds me of the original CLs. |

| The front looks like a Chrysler Accord, the side looks like a TL but I think the rear looks like the current 5 series. I'm not too impress with it...It's clean though. I still miss the look of the legend... |

The pic from the first post looks OK. Interior is nice.
But the new pic from pelucidor makes me like the RL more.
I was thinking of getting a new GS but not have to check out RL for sure. |

.......of the production car, just like they unveiled when the TL came out. I seriously doubt the ACTUAL production version will get 20" wheels and such "thin" rubber......maybe 18 inchers and slightly higher profile tires.
Navigation w/real time traffic info sounds AWESOME!! :29: .....but then again Acura has always been the leader in this area.
Even though the sound system is a DVD-A Bose system, I've got mixed feelings. Don't know if it will be better or worse than the "Elliot Scheiner" unit in the TL, and I wonder why they didn't consult him on this one?? |
|

| I like the inside a lot. Outside it looks like an old Chevy Malibu or old 1998-2002 Toyota Camry. Nice car though! |

This is the prototype and it will be real close. Does anyone know what the acura link is and will it provide real time traffic updates? Way cool!!! |

| Absolutly beutiful in every way, good job Acura! If that AWD system really has the goods, put it on the TL and I will trade my Sti for it. |

| Looks very small for large size sedan, even smaller than the current one. Also, it looks a lot like a Mazda sedan. Very disappointing. |

I like everything about it except the nose. The nose has too much rake, and those headlight enclosures look like they'll only look good with black paint. Sides, rear, interior & power are :29: :29: :29: .
I'm very curious as to what the performance numbers will look like. Both the E500 and GS430 have ~300HP with similar weight (likely) and are able to turn in sub 6 second 0-60 MPH times. I hope to see the same on the new RL, along with significantly improved handling. |
