About a week ago, while I had lent out my old Integra to a relative, a truck backed up into into it. Since I have to get the hood replaced and repainted, I was wondering how much a new paint job for the entire car would cost. And is it worth it? Since it is the high mileage vehicle in the family, it may just be a waste of $.

BTW, the car color is currently eggplantish. . . looking to go with silver.

I'll try to get some pics.

It depends how long you plan to keep it, for a quality job I would expect to pay in the neighborhood of $1500 just for the paint job especially since you want to change colors.

Or you could go to the place Pete Rose used to advertise for, Earl Schein, and get one of those $300 specials.:2:

Where I live, a quality job is more like $3000 to $4000. That includes no real bodywork, and assumes same-color. That is not a job where they strip the existing paint to the metal. It would include a good urethane paint and clearcoat, and you'd end up with no runs, drips, sand in the paint, etc.

Start multiplying an hourly labor rate by the number of hours it takes to properly prep and paint a car, and you come out with a big number. Paint and supplies also add up. (Paint itself can be $100's. For an everyday beater, it clearly isn't worth it.

Thanks folks. Maybe I'll just take the money and put it towards an MDX payment.
