just ordered a sage brush pearl with navigation, body side moldings, and running boards.

price on road 41,600.

breakdown:

trade 31,900
cash difference 9600.00 includes 6% tax and 220.00 tag fee.

the numbers bamboozle me a bit, but i really like the vehicle

msrp 41,745.00, +663.00 running boards, + 291.00 body moldings
total msrp 42,699.00

invoice is 37,645.00, plus options cost.
im not really sure how i did, any feedback would be helpful before i sign.
thanks,
wiz

If you have time, search the forum. Depending on where you are and what you traded, you may have left a few K$$ on the table. There are also some buying techniques that may help. Let us know what happens. :)

well, to they did do above and beyond on my trade.
kbb= about 28.8k
dealer= 31.9k
i just cannot figure out how much i paid above invoice. i'm an educated woman, but these variables are confusing to me. im not an accountant.
who is this tim? is it some kind of running joke?
sorry, i just don't get it.
thanks,

For sidesteps, BSM and other accessories, you can go to

www.hondacuraworld.com (aka Tim)

or

eBay

www.ebay.com

and in particular

http://stores.ebay.com/Acura-of-Esc...genameZl2QQtZkm
Just got BSM and rear spoiler from them. Good price and prompt delivery.

This is only if you want to do the installation yourself......
If you want the dealer to install everything, you can still print out the prices from the web and use the data to negotiate.

Good luck.
the wiz
thank you! i had no knowledge of this tim, and now i need to know tim.

Wiz,
if you want the detail break down, look at the contract of the purchase (the long yellow sheet, if you have signed the contract already), section 1A is really what the purchase price of the car with accessories.

But again, the accessories should be at least 20% off MSRP. If they charge you MSRP for the accessories, add the difference back to the cost of the car.

Here is an example:
Amount on 1A + (What they charged you on the accessories) - (MSRP of the accessories X 80%)

This will give you a ball-park figure. But if they installed the parts for you, they usually add labor cost. I am guessing about $150-200 labor to install the two accessories.

Yeah, the number game can be confusing. I have problems sometime even though I am an Accountant.

i think i understand.
i figured out that the agreed upon price of 41,600.00 includes approx 1400.00 in tax, tag and fees. that leaces me with the raw figure of 40,200.00.
the accessories total approx 1000.00 installed and are included in the 40,200 figure.
i also have about 750.00 left over after i pay off my present vehicle.
so lets see

40,200.00 (price of vehicle and accessories installed, sans fees)
- 750.00 (gain from trade in above what i owe)
= 39,450.00 (my raw cost of vehicle)

that said,
invoice =37,645.00 + accessories 800.00 (80% of 1000.00 retail cost of running boards, and bsm).
total dealer cost 38,445.00.

as i see it i'm paying 1005.00 over invoice before fees

think that computes?!
thanks for your feedback beyond 97, it was helpful

Wiz,
If your tax rate is 6%, $220 is your est. license fees:

Here is the figure I came up with:
Invoice Price $37,111.00
Mark-up $536.86
Destination $545.00
---------------------------------------
Sub-total $38,192.86
DMV Doc Fee $45.00
---------------------------------------
6% Sales Tax $2,294.27
Est. License fees $220.00
---------------------------------------
"Out the door" price $40,752.13

Accessories:
Running Board $549.00
Moldings $215.00
----------------------------------------
$764.00
20% Discount $(152.80)
-----------------------------------------
Subtotal $611.20
6% Sales Tax $36.67
Installation $200.00
----------------------------------------
Accessories total $847.87

----------------------------------------
Car + Accessories $41,600.00

If this makes sense to you, you have a very very good deal.
I just signed the contract for the exact same car and I have to pay $1000 "mark up" and 8.25% sales tax.
BTW, I live in the SF Bay Area where everything is expensive, including sales tax.
the wiz
it really looks right to me.....thank you for your analysis...im going to pick it up on monday.
i feel good abuot the deal, and i really like the ride.
thanks again,

Wiz, expectant buyers :

Please do post us the great pics.

Thanks.
the wiz
yes, as soon as i get it i will post pics...any opinions on which running boards to get.....i have a choice between the black regular running boards, the black tubular step, or the silver/chrome tubular step. keep in mind the color is the sage pearl...thanks,
wiz
luvdodo
Chrome might be just okay because the door handles/locks are all chrome too. Might match up - moreover if you like glittery stuff.

Otherwise Black is not a bad choice, will go with the tires. In the sense that there is nothing to worry as this is a not an additional on the exterior.

To help you , here are two links. Both Sage Brush - one with black and the other Chrome thingy :

Black Running Boards

Chrome Side Steps

Well, I have none...Just got myself the all-season mats to save the original carpets , alloy wheel locks and the cargo net to avoid grocery rolling from end to end :2:

Thanks!

Welcome wiz and CONGRATS on your purchase!

Just wanted to weigh in on the running boards.....CHROME, CHROME, CHROME. I couldn't be happier with my CHROME running boards. I think they really dress up the X.

Just curious where in the Bay Area you just bought your X. It's true that things tend to cost more here, but I got my X in January for nearly $2K under sticker here in the South Bay. At the time I bought it, they had about 10 Xs on the lot. I've gone back or driven by there a number of times since then, and they always seem to have that many sitting on the lot. With that kind of inventory, they can't be charging a mark-up.

What kind of inventory level was your dealer carrying when you bought yours?
the wiz

Congrats Wiz and welcome aboard!

Take good care of that "X", especially during the break-in period!

when i took delivery, i noted a scratch in the door, and the dealer wrote a "we owe" order. it states they will "buff" or repair. im concerned that if its buffed, that it will remove the clearcoat....do they replace that, or is the paint "naked" and exposed? no real big deal, just curious, and dont know much about paint work..
thanks,
wiz

ps pics of new ride will be coming after my accessories are installed next week, so i did not forget your request luvdodo.
luvdodo
Wiz,

They are pros at what they do. Don't worry they'll do it all.

You might also insisit on they giving it a full good waxing before delivery. Which they will not refuse too.

Take delivery during the day after they fix it so that you can have a look at it in the sun-n-shade modes to see if you can notice any difference. If you do, then you know what to do!

As I have said in my earlier thread...your money, your right!

Thanks,
luvdodo
And don't wait too long to get it done!

Just wanted everyone to know another baby X-er is about to "offically" join the X family. I "ordered" my X yesterday and will drive it home on Monday!! :2:

Check out my signature block for the specs. I got the whole package out-the-door for $42,300 - around here that was better than I expected. In fact, I want to publically THANK Luvdodo for his advice and assistance - YOU ROCK!!:18:

I decided not to go with the DVD at this time because I think I can do better on the after market - my lil sis got a better deal and put screens in the back of both front headrests for her kids.

I too will post pix as soon as I take delivery. I hope I'm one of those X-ers that go many miles and many years with no problems with their X.:29:

Congrats Wiz & zetmdx on your new MDX's & welcome to Da X-club!

Wiz. yep! You picked the right color! :4: As far as the scratch, it depends on "deep" it was. If it's just surface type, buffing maybe w/ the clear-coat product, be removed. If it was deeper, it would have to be filled, painted, re-clearcoated & then waxed (or buffed) out. Take a good look at the are in bright lights (Sun light Pref) from diff. angles. You shouldn't be abe to tell the diff. in it & the surrounding area's. Good luck

thanks for the tips..i get it done monday
ill post some pics when its done

Hey Folks....

I have a Silver 04 "X", with Touring and RES. Purchased in 1/04.

I have been searching for a photo of a Silver MDX with the Satin Side Steps, the chrome is a bit too flashy for me.

Secondly, has anyone used Dynamat around their Bose subwoofer to eliminate some of the vibration in the interior panels?

Too all the new "X" owners, congrats and enjoy.

Hey Paclark01, congrats...& check the Photo gallery forpics of side steps & the Audio & Elect. forum to read / search for dynamat questions. People will have posted it there. :4:

Hi All,

I just want to say I will be picking up my 04 Sage Brush MDX this Saturday. I had owned an used LX470 which I brought 5 months ago. I love the LX, but I came to the realization that gas price will never come down; plus the last three cars has been used car 96 Cobra Mustang which I sold. I brought an used 98 LS400 and then I got rid off my 10 years old car which I brought new and got the used LX470. I love the LX470, but I wanted a new vehicle. So, I talked my wife into trading the LX470 for a MDX. I can't wait till I pick it up this Saturday. I brought the vehicle for $42225 with the full wood trim kit (Wife loves wood trim).

I will be a proud owner of a vehicle which I think I will keep for a long time. My second car will be my LS400 which I still love.

Beyond97, with a purchase price of 1000 over invoice, you are probably holding the record low for a straight purchase without trade-in in the Bay Area. Can you tell us where you got your deal and with whom? Thank you.

My deal is kind of special.... the sales mis-understood my offer on an email. Thus, $1000 over invoice is not the price that they will sell the MDX to just the general public. I think $1200 over invoice is something that they will do.

I got it at Hopkins in Redwood City.

Don't go to Pleasanton or Oakland...... they suck......

When I was in the market for a new X this past January, I contacted the web/fleet sales rep at three South Bay Acura dealerships, and in every case they offered a price at least $1K below sticker (no discussion of trade-in). As I mentioned in a previous posting, the dealer I ended up buying from had 10-12 MDXs on the lot at the time I bought, and they have continuously had that many ever since (I see them every time I drive by). With that many in stock at all times, they can't be asking for more than sticker. I got mine for $1800 below, and a co-worker of my wife's bought one the week prior for $1600 below.

I am new this month to MDX.ORG and plan to purchase a Silver MDX Touring with NAV and DVD. It sounds as if you got a pretty good price. Could you share what part of the country you are located in and the name of the dealership you purchased from? I am located in Westchester county, NY.

welcome to the board...lots of great stuff here!
Im in south florida...remember that your price will vary with location and market conditions in that location. i think the end of the month thing is true....thats when the best deals can be had. i really took my time, didnt allow anyone to rush me, distract me, or tire me out. get an edmunds report, a legal pad and a calculator, and work your numbers ( i had a really hard time with the number crunching) but the kind folks on this board helped me and many others to decipher them. remember your playiing poker...don,t let anyone see your cards!
good luck,

Just had the best buying experience and with a car dealer no less! Salesman was great, car came in exactly when he told me it would, gave me a good price. I brought a 2004 MDX with the Touring/Navigation with running boards, wide side moldings, cargo cover, cargo liner, wood grain interior, burlwood shift knob, wheel locks for 39,790.00. Dealer's fee for processing was $45.00 and tax was $2,984.25 and $12.50 for tire management (NY law req) for a total price $42,841.75. I did the whole deal over the internet and by email. The dealership was Heart Acura on Route 9 in Wappinger Falls New York. Everyone that works at this dealership (yes, even the Finance Manager:) are a credit to Acura. I am still pinching myself. By the way, I love my MDX!!!!

That is a very good deal. Lucky you for only paying 7.75% sales tax. Unlike us here in the Bay Area (SF, CA) , we are paying at least 8.25%!!!!!
Did they install all the accessories for you? If so, you have a very very good deal. I bought some accessories too. But I have to install them by myself.
NKL
Pat: Sounds like you got a great deal! I have also heard on this site good things about Heart. They are on my list and plan to cut my deal at the end of May.

Thanks for the details.

I, guess we in Virgina are much luckier ...it's a 3% tax.

But then I don't know about the property tax, thats too very high out here and trembling to receive the first one.

Congrats to all the new buyers and prospective ones!
