After convincing my dealer that I would need a loaner for my 6-week old MDX while they tried to find the leak in my moonroof, they rented me a Murano.
My last car was a Nissan, so I am familiar with the family. All I can say is, WOW - what trash! It is a base model with pretty much no options, but it reminds of almost a GM interior. Seems plasticy and fake, and I'm also not a fan of brushed aluminum, but I know I'm a minority there.
Ride quality seemed ok, noisier than the X though. Also small inside, VERY small compared to the X.
The tranny is that special CVT or whatever they call it - no "shifts" or gears, it's got a series of belts and pullies. I bury my foot to the floor and the tach rises to about 6k and stays there while it picks up speed. Very interesting, but. . . I don't like it. You know how if you have a car held in 1st gear and just BARELY touch the gas and it's extremely sensative - same thing, but ALL the time!
Exterior - you're on your own, everyone has their own taste.
I wanted to look at the Murano while I was thinking about the X. I never did test drive it or anything, and I kind of kicked myself after the fact. Sure glad I didn't now! |
