I am having a problem using my childrens' child safety seats (carseats) in the second row of my '04 MDX. In short, the problem is this: when there are three carseats in the second row, it is nearly impossible to access the seatbelt anchors to latch the belt!
Here are the details. I have three children. One is an infant and uses a rear-facing car seat that has a base which is LATCH'd on the driver's side. The other two are older and use booster seats which make use of the MDX seatbelts. So each time the older two get in/out of the car, they need to latch/unlatch the MDX seat belt. I got the narrowest carseats I could find, but when all three are in the second row there is no room to reach between the seats to find the seatbelt anchor. It doesn't really matter which seat goes where, since every seatbelt anchor will still be crammed between 2 carseats.
Has anyone figured out a way to overcome this problem? The only thing I can think of would be a 3-4 inch seatbelt extender that would allow the seatbelt anchor to extend up past the car seats, making it easier for my kids to find it and buckle up. Anyone kow if this exists? Any other ideas? Thanks! |

| Doesn't anyone use 3 car seats across the middle row in their MDX? Does anyone know of a seat belt extender? Any help is greatly appreciated - one more day of wrestling with those seatbelts may send me shopping for a (gasp!) minivan. |

gurs,
You could always ditch the LATCH and move the infant behind the driver's seat. This should give the other two the access they need. I have three seats in mine right now and the kids don't have a problem. I do not have an infant seat however. |
