My dealer says the brake clunk TSB does not apply to Canadian MDXs, according to the service advisor there is no TSB for the brake clunk in Canada. My 04X, delivered in Nov 03, definitely has the infamous brake clunk.
Did anyone in Canada get the clunk fixed? |

| Well, I am going in next week for my 12,000km service. I am planning to drop the TSB in front of them. I'll let you know how it goes. |

Let us know, I'm not scheduled until next month, for my 42K service.
Also, going to ask about the tranny TSB on my 02. |

Hi ,
I just got a 04 last week and so am new to any trouble/issues. Is there a link to the TSB problem?
Thanks |

| TSB's issued by Honda Motors of America mean nothing in Canada. Unless Honda Canada issues a TSB, you're out of luck. Go figure... the vehicle is made here, yet Honda would have us believe that the problems are not universal. Same reason we don't get the same colour options and were without the NAVI option for 4 years, I guess. |

well, the Xs here in Australia are promoted as Canadian made. so does it mean that my X will be also one of these X have the problem. if that really is, is it possible for you to explain more about the issue, the TSB as you called. There aren't many Xs here so i won't have enough info as an Aussie. ( also i think Japanese version is the same as Ausralian version)
thank you very much |

Hi jamchen,
Please do a search. The brake clunk has been widely discussed in the forum. Basically it's a metallic noise coming from the rear brakes, most noticeable when you apply brakes after reversing. All MDXs have this problem. Honda America issued a TSB recently. But some say the fix may only be temporary. |

Went in on Friday. They also said that it was a U.S. TSB. However, they did claim that they did something to the brakes. So far I haven't noticed the brake clunk, but I've only driven it for a couple of of short trips this weekend. I'll see how it goes this week before I push it any further.
I don't see why it should make any difference whether a Canadian or U.S. owner complains about the brakes. There is an acknowledged problem and they supposedly know how to fix it. Perhaps it's a part stocking issue? |

I went in for my 12,000km service. I showed them the brake clunk TSB. The service advisor said they would look into it. I picked up my X, on the work order I noticed they did order the shim set as mentioned on the TSB, I checked the part #.
So far, no more clunking, I hope the fix will last.
So my Canadian dealer did follow the U.S. TSB. |
