I thought it would be neat to have a thread dedicated to real life "exotic" automobiles we encounter.
Today I passed an Aston Martin DB9. I "blew" by him in my TL-S ;) (he was actually talking on the phone  ). |

| Spotted an antique Bentley (mid-late 40's) in immaculate condition this past Sunday on the way to church. The steering wheel was on the right side. It looked much like this photo except it was a hardtop. |

| It depends. I work in Greenwiwch and if I'm driving on Route 1 (those of you familiar with Southwestern CT may know the area) I see all the nice dealerships - Ferarri, Aston Martin, Porche, Maybachs (I sat in and the dealer said they had 12 coming in and all work sold - not bad for a car that starts at $350,000). In fact, right next to the Greenwich train station there is an exotic car dealer who sells the all. I drool when I get off the train. |

In Springfield, Mo. we have some of the largest Exotic car brokers in the country. Team Motorsports, Motorcars International, Premier Sports Cars, etc. Some of the detail work for Motorcars International is done in the back of the local VW dealership, so most of the time, you can see a few exotics. Check out their inventory on their website at www.motorcars-intl.com and click Springfield, Mo. They have 2 saleen s7's in stock, but I have not had the pleasure to personally druell over one of them as of yet.
On a side note, a few weeks ago, I saw a 2004 Lambroghini Gallardo in yellow pearl outside a pizza joint. Unbelieveable!
Cars are awesome :D |

So you can just go in an exotic car dealership and sit on any car you want just like any other dealerships?? I doubt I can do that here :(. There is Porsche dealer and an exotic car dealer (forgot the name) near my place (about a 10 minute walk) and I've never even think of going in there because I don't have the money too. My MDX will look like a beater in their parking lot :D |

| I dont know if I can walk into the Ferrari dealership and sit in a car for fun - they would probably ask me to leave. LOL!!! But, there are two Ferrari (SP?) dealers in Greenwich and one is next to the train station. Nothing better than a nice yellow or red prancing horse staring at you. Love it!!! |

| If you are ever in South Florida, try driving around (or just park) if you want to see older exotics. Have seen DB4s, prewar Mercedes convertibles, ditto Rolls and Bentley, actual original 300SL roadster, Packard Caribbean, etc, all driving down the road or parked on Worth Avenue. Much better than a museum! |

Isn't it bad enough that about 50 babes/thongs are being added to the site hourly now w/o them being put in threads like this?
I was on the site at 9:12 CST this morning and come back at 12:11 CST to find 155 New Posts - most of which are "babes" How can anyone post 125+ babe pics in 3 hours

Yea he's at it again, now I see there are 67 New Posts, again mostly "babes" - and I thought this was a car site :o Silly me  175+ babes posts in 5 hours is amazing
The point of my earlier post was that the "thong" shots added above have NO Business being posted in this thread. This thread used to be auto related and does NOT carry a NWS warning!! |

Well some "moderator" ought to get involved with pics like those above posted here in a so-called car thread - at least the Babe & Thong threads are clearly labeled!! Some folks have a warped sense of humor  Is that what this site has become :(

Hey IF folks want Babes there is a place for them - this thread is NOT it and that was the purpose of my post in the first place. I was astonshed to see so many posts added in a few hours and seeing bare a$$es posted in this thread was the straw that broke the camels toe so to speak. |

Last time I checked Zafer was also a moderator. Rather than bogging down this thread with your ranting about post counts again, why don't you start a thread and vent there. And the other board members can choose either to view it or not to view.
Just a suggestion, of course. . . |

Zafer, you were out of line here. You are a moderator and I had to clean up after you.
And fyi to all that I just closed the Babes thread. Here is a quote from that thread:
"Folks, the time has come to close down the "Hottest Babe" thread. My database backups are insane because of this thread. There are enough pictures to "satisfy" any hungry mind, so let's just stop it here.
So new site policy, no more Babe pics of any kind please. I'm sure there are tons of sites that cater to that market.
Thanks!

Saw a few Lamborghini Gallardo running around these days.
I think I need a compact digital camera that I can carry around

One of the most exotic cars I have seen is a Porsche 959.

| Heh, you guys think Bentley or Austin is exotic? Let me show you the REAL exotic car... probably the only one in States, although there are some in Canada. This car is cruising around Chicago! No... it's not FIAT, although it looks almost the same. It's 1976 Russian LADA (in Russia use to be called Dzi-gu-li). Check out this guy's web site! |
|
|
| mgmdx |

LADA/Zhiguli is based on a design that Russians stole from Fiat in the 60's. For many years, it was one of the few car models (the others being Moskvich and Zaporozhets) that were available to the masses. Volga was the upscale brand reserved primarily for party officials and taxi cab duty.
I believe they continued to produce these well into the 90's. After the iron curtain fell in the late 80's - early 90's, imported automobiles became more prevalent in Russia. |

My grandma used to have a blue Lada. I think it was a '77. It was great!
My parents used to have this one. It's called "Zaporozhets". Now that's exotic! In the winter my dad had to carry the battery up to our appartment to get it recharged, otherwise the car wouldn't start and I would have to push it down the hill so he can jump-start it. |

Wow! Did I miss something, or do we have a Russian admin?!
F.Y.I. LADA indeed was build officialy by FIAT. The first production started in 1972. My uncle had '72 LADA, it was a great and very reliable car compare to everything else made before and after it. My dad had same exact LADA pictured on the previous page except his was built in 79, I believe... I was learning to drive on that car... memories-memories... So, all of the above is correct except for statement, that LADA was built for average people in Russia. The official cost of LADA was about 7000 rubls when an average paycheck at the time was about 100 rubls per month. You do the math.

So, to fill everyone on the subject - CTPYHA is a Cyrillic word. In English would be pronoced as "STRU-NA" and means A STRING (in my case a guitar string). BTW this is my license plate, so if you see me around just be-e-ep.

I'm not sure if she's classified as exotic, but there were only about 4500 built for the US market between '92 and '94, and about 1900 of those were Cabs. I'm guessing somewhere between 60-80% are still on the roads.

And for those without Photoshop, you can use the good-old Microsoft Paint (included in Windows) to edit the size by using the "stretch/skew" in the "image" menu.
You can set the horizontal and vertical to be a fraction (say 50%) of the original size. |

Seen and touched it, couldn't sit or drive though. Local Lexus/Porsche/Jag, etc. dealer that I bought my LS from had a guy order one and then decided he didn't really want it as situation changed. Had a $50k deposit forfeited but they ended up letting him apply it to his next car purchase since he buys two new ones every year from the combined dealership.
I asked costs and got over $450k but they could lease for $10k a month if I wanted. I've got photos on it on the showroom floor so will try to find and post. Tried to get GM to keep it as his demo and then lend to great customers like me for one weekend a month as loaner - for some reason he thought that wouldn't work well. :D |

Agreed that the styling does look a bit dated but the engineers at Nismo concentrated on squeezing every drop from the 2.8 V6. At 500hp and 400 lb/fr of torque it covers 1/4 mile in 10.05 seconds. With those figures, I'd take a pass on body styling :D |
