I will also be posting a dealer rating, but looks like that might be down right now?

Anyway, they had my BRAND NEW X for three days. They're looking for a moonroof leak that gets me wet, but can't find it, of course.

My experience started with them before I purchased the X. I went looking around January and they are the closest. The salesman I saw seemed kind of like he was there just to do something, not really sell cars. Maybe he didn't think I was serious. We did do a test drive and he spent time showing me the nav system, but told me to come back the following month to see what was in stock. When I asked about taking the car for a few hours to get a feel for it, that was the last I heard from him.

So anyway, I found a wonderful dealer (Jones Acura) about 2 hours away. Excellent to deal with and handle the transaction.

Now, after getting my car back, I find a nice door ding on the rear passenger side, complimented by some scratches. I pointed out the ding immediately and they said they would have dent wizard fix it - dent wizard is on-site EVERY Wednesday - why does that sound bad to me? Anyway, paint is not broken on the ding, so I told them as long as there are NO holes drilled inside or the moldings scratched, that's fine.

It wasn't until after I got home I could see the scratches in the light. If I thought they would do anything about it, I'd *****. The problem is, they'll NEVER get the color perfect if they paint JUST the door, they'll never blend it right into the other panels, and the finish will NOT match the rest of the car. And I'd almost rather not have them mess with it - I'll have my own shop do it if anything.

So we'll see how the dent wizard does. I told them if there's any evidence of it, we'll be doing something more in-depth. All this after they couldn't find the leak. I don't think we'll be making any more trips there.

The scratches are VERY minor, but for a brand new $40k car with 3000 miles on it, that is unacceptible to me. I have a car that is from 1994 with 57k miles on it and you'd never be able to find a scratch.

Oh - and on top of that, I just found my "not an ashtray" with a "penny" stuck in the door. Yes, I keep change in there. And I forgot to empty. Someone was nice enough to help themselves to half my change. While I'm not THAT hard-up for money, that's way below ANY dealer. Shame on them - they've lost a customer for life.

I have to agree with you, they suck and I wasn't afraid to give them a crappy rating to Acura when I got a survey.

I had a problem with a rattling noise occurring around 3000 RPM's and of course the service dept couldn't reproduce the noise.

The service writer had the balls to tell me, I should get used to it and not worry about it, just tune it out. He also told me I was being too picky, it's a car. I politely said, I don't expect that from a 40K vehicle and to fix the problem.

It wasn't til I had the service manager take a drive with me on a quiet back road before he admitted he heard it as well. Long story short they finally fixed it, but I thought that was a pretty lame excuse.

Make sure you give them a lowsy rating.:D

Another dirtbag dealer!!! Sorry to hear about your nasty experience.

It makes one wonder why dealerships like that allow themselves to be poor providers. Maybe they can not get good help. I find it hard to believe that the dealer folks have to empty the change compartment.

I have found West Chester Acura (Rt 202 north of Rt 1) to be fairly decent with their service department. At least no complaints yet.

Greg P -

I am with you on being persistent. The service people are always trying to stay away from the warranty work. In my opinion, the mechanics probably don't make as much on the warranty work.

Along with the 'lowsy rating', I would probably find the Acura website and send them a nasty-gram directly. Some of the quality control calls come from the dealership ...

Good Luck dipersp!

I'd still love to trade you for Zimbrick Acura in Madison. Talk about scum bags..... They don't even let you respond to any surveys from Acura or JD Powers. Love the car, but what a dealer network.

Never again. Life is too short to put up with their crap.

Don't worry... "non-invasive dent repair" usually fixes minor problems quite well, and if the scratches are so light that you can't see them in normal daylight, there's a good chance that a good detail center can buff them out completely ( I wouldn't let the dealer do this!) . I spent 5 years as a Mercedes salesman in Brooklyn, NY, and saw some incredible fixes on minor damage. We had one guy who could even use a buffer to "move" paint around on new cars, and he was able to completely cover key scratches and rock chips! Incredible!

Well, here's an update.

We had torrental downpours yesterday and, of course, I had water around the moonroof again. I happened to be in the Ardmore area, so I cringed, called them and took it over.

When I called and got the service writer on the phone, I told him what was up. He asked how many miles (???), I told him 8k. "Ok, do you need to get your oil changed?" NO! I need a freakin' water leak fixed! Then he said I probably just "need the drains blown out again." Unreal.

So, the service writer looked at it, and I finally convinced him it's not the drains (Since it's leaking between the seal on the glass and the glass.) It's not even leaking between the seal and the roof! They ordered glass. Now I guess I'm going to need to stand guard when I take it in for them to replace it.

.........may or may not solve the problem. It's a flaw in the design of the moonroof itself. The front section is not properly "weatherstipped". See my posts in the thread below:

How does Acura let crummy dealers like this survive? Do they only care about selling cars?

In many circumstances, yes. The service department and parts are seen as necessary evils in some dealer groups, therefore as long as the upper management doesn't hear about any problems, they are left to fend for themselves.

I will say without question that the Ray Laks dealerships are the most service oriented group I've ever worked with, and I'm proud to be here :)

Thanks for the heads up - I have seen your post. I actually just added this one to it as well.

It appears to me AND (Amazingly) the service writer that it is not coming from between the roof and the seal, but actually between the glass and it's seal. They think there's a break in the seal where it adhered to the glass. We shall see. If it doesn't fix it, lemon law, here I come! (Third trip to funhouse.)
