Has anyone reached the 100k mark? Does anyone have any advice? We are doing some price comparisons between providers and getting mixed answers on what should and shouldn't be done.

... I see you did not trade-in your MDX after all. :1: You may have the highest mileage in the group. As far as what to do I'd recommend following the owners manual, assuming you did not miss important items earlier. If you did miss an earlier item then I'd tend to that as well.

Apparently you decided to keep your car - good luck

Yes, we kept it. It's a good thing. We have only had 3 minor problems with it in 98,515 miles. Can't complain about that.

I believe my husband is going by the manual, minus a few things he does himself and the the tires. Speaking of tires, we got 83,000 miles off the factory tires!!! Anyway, here is the list I have been pricing: Plugs, timing belt, tensioner, water pump, drive belts, radiator hoses, fuel filter and brakes. One shop said don't do the fuel filter unless you have a problem. Another said we don't need to do the radiator hoses.

Your list includes both routine maintenance items as wells as service problem items. For instance I see no need to do the brakes as part of a 100K "service" unless you NEED new brakes. Is there a problem with the water pump? I would separate the maintenance items from the repair items.

I will have to check with my husband and see where he is getting his info. It may be from the dealer's reccommended service. They tend to "reccommend" a lot!!!

But if you need the timing belt done, it's the opportune time to do the water pump. At least that's what 'they' say to avoid additional labor costs when it does go belly up.

Original hoses? Wow..says something for the rubber products. But if they feel mushy at all they should go.

Nice to treat the 'baby' to some new parts that have some threat of going in the near future. Small price for all the worry-free miles you got.

Amazing mileage for the tires...must not drive like me :D

We like to baby our cars. We feel like if we take car of them, they will take care of us. So far I have received two quotes in the $1100 range. I think that amount sounds very reasonable. I did find out that the fuel filter is inside the tank. It's not recommended to change it unless you are having trouble.

As far as the tires, I think we got very very lucky. We did try to keep them rotated, balanced and aligned. I'm sure that helped.

I wish I would hear from someone that has hit that 100K mark. Our dealership said we are the second one they have seen. I guess there aren't many out there yet.

Also, has anyone had trouble getting their car seat tight enough and to stay that way?

I agree on holding off on the fuel pump. Some last forever and it is not typically any type of routine maintenance item (especially if they had to drop the tank to get to it).

I agree with most of the other items you suggested. My list of items to hit at 100k would be:

-Spark plugs, wires, rotor, and cap
-Timing belt and tensioner
-Drive Belts
-Water pump only if it save a lot of $$ from doing it separately later
-Fuel filter (it's cheap and easy, and probably has some sludge after 100K)
-Bleed all brake lines (only do pads and rotors as needed on usual schedule)
-Flush Radiator/new fluid (hoses only if they are soft or show cracking)
-replace air filter and pollen filters
-Differential fluid

---if any of these has been done lately as part of routine maintenance, you can skip it. Also, all of these are pretty simple DIY items other than the timing belt (and water pump if needed).

It is also a good time to take a quick look to check your CV boots, motor mounts, exhaust and exhaust hangars....these are probably in good shape, but if you don't routinely look, it can become an expensive deal later.
