Not too unusual in a part of CA where seeing more than one AC Cobra on a given Saturday morning is commonplace.
(Yes, I know that's not an AC cobra..)

That's a boring ride if you ask me, all he sees on the freeway is that wall :2: and oh yeah, all that money just to drive in bumper to bumper traffic :3:

Very true, and at times like that for the rest of us, looking at 'show cars' is about the most amusment you could expect.

Besides, many of those folks may live in Malibu, but still have to go downtown to crank up the money machine. :)

And I know where he just came from before he got on the 101.

It has gotten worse rapidly during the last 2 years.

Saturday traffic as bad as any weekday. Most people work on Saturday now?

There is almost one car pool lane for every freeway. And you can enter or exit the car pool lane every 1 mile or so (at almost every freeway exit). It makes #1 lane slower than other regular lanes.

I don't know what Caltran is thinking?

Work all week shop all weekend. I don't know how long you have been in LA...but when I lived in the bay area, it was not much different any day of the week.
Of course, specific corridors were more heavy M-F during commuting hours, but I still saw big lines waiting to make turn offs into major shopping malls, flea markets, or ppl just driving to recreation points on weekends.
Especially in SoCal where the weather is most kind.
It is possible where industries have picked up, more hours are being asked of employees.

I have been living in So Cal since I moved from Taiwan in 1986.

Saturday traffic was ok until these past few years. Now, on Saturday morning you will see traffic heading west (toward downtown LA) and vice versa in the afternoon. Sometimes is traffic jams both ways. Makes you wonder Saturday is like any weekday.

At least Sunday is nice and calm.

It's that "flex time" thing, self scheduling is a big deal in today's workforce. My daughter works in Redondo Beach, lives in Newport Beach, self scheduling is supposed to allow her less of a commute headache :1pat:

Then there is population growth. Something the freeways never keep up with.
