I'm with you on the "love" of the Devils... they kicked the Panthers real good in last years playoffs. As we're down to 4 teams, there's really only 1 team I don't want to see skating around the rink at the last horn. |

I wondered about the handle. I'm a big fan of the Redwings also, not my fave, but up there. You have to wonder about their collapse in the playoffs... yeah they had injuries, but the wheels just came off. I'm starting to wonder more about age as a team. Stevie Y still rules, but these guys aren't getting any younger, and their goaltending looks suspicious once again. I hope they can pull it together next year and have at least 1 more good run with the core now there. The team is going to disperse soon.
As for the Rangers, can't stand 'em. No self respecting Panther fan should... even if the Ranger fans do out draw us in our home arena. Actually, what started as a good rivalry has really diminished in the last couple of years. With the Panthers, one has to wonder if they will even be here 5 years from now??? |
|
|
|
| As a Ranger fan, I can't stand the Devils, but they are just too solid to lose. They are tough, smart and each line can score. The Avs will be weaker without Forsberg and the Blues series will take more out of the Avs than the Penguins will out of the Devils. As a "hockey" fan, you also need to appreciate the way the Devils play the game. There is nothing better than seeing someone knocked silly from a clean hit by Scott Stevens. Once again, the cup will be paraded around the Meadowlands parking lot. |

| I had been rooting for the Avs. But I don't see how, being all banged up and now losing Forsberg, that they'll be able to pull it out all the way to the finals. The Devils will pound 160lb Joe Sakic all over the ice until he breaks down or is at least only mildly effective. |

Hey Guys, Pens looked pretty tough this evening !
Let's not all become Devil worshippers so quickly now. |

Just look at my handle and you know who my team is.
The Flyers are rivals of the Devils, but since Recchi, Primeau, and crew are out of it, you have to love the Devils.
Statistically, they are the strongest team left in the playoffs, and they appear to be peaking at the right time.
They are deep with three strong lines, and Brodeur is awesome. The cup is really the Devils' to lose, IMOHO.

The first time I saw your handle I knew where your love lies. I'm a big LeClair fan... is he out of there?
I think you're absolute correct about the cup being the Devil's, should they want it. They are the strongest and deepest team in the playoffs, not to mention their talent. If only they still had Claude Lemieux... that could lead to some real excitement against Colorado! |

mdxwanna:
Funny about Clarke--it's either a love or a hate thing. Some think his stance with Lindros was pure genius. Others say it cost the Flyers a chance to go deeper into the playoffs. (Word has it they needed to go at least one more round to have a break-even season financially). I know some guys who are very close to the team who think Lindros needed to go. He was a bad influence in many ways in the locker room.
And ScottyB:
Looks very much John LeClair wont be in Flyer orange next year. He is unrestricted, and there is some bad blood over his salary negotiations earlier this year with Clarke and the hockey club. He hasnt played nearly as well this year after his surgery, and personally I think he and Lindros together had a synergy, kinda like Lemieux and Jagr. I love LeClair's hockey, and whoever gets him (if he indeed leaves) will get a stand up guy who plays hard every game.
Again, this is all in my own (black and orange) humble opinion. :D :D :D :D

Ed,
The last couple of years has been tough to be a Panther fan. I love hockey, so at least I get to see some live every year. We had a great run when we made it to the finals in '96. My Brother & I were fortunate to get tickets to all the playoff games through some friends that were season tix holders. The final game against the Avs was incredible. Even though we lost, it was the coolest moment in sports, watching the handshake after the game and seeing the Avs skate around the rink with the cup. Truly awesome! With all the games during the season, there is only 1 that you get to witness that spectacle. And being 1 of 15K there... incredible.
We've been season ticket holders since then and regularly get out cheered by the visiting team's fans... at least the last few years. We do have a couple of exciting guys, and as they say in sports... there's always next year! |
|
|
|
Season tix, eh? That's great! Hockey is best in person.
My family went to a Flyers/Ducks game where friends gave us their 4th row, adjacent to the visitors bench, seats. Usually we get another friends tix in the 22nd row, corner. Big difference! My wife saw the, shall we say, the more unpleasant side of the game in the 4th row--spitting, cursing, 6'5", 240# guys checking others into the boards in full stride, blood, etc. (To me that's great hockey :D)
Well, our 7 year old has been playing organized hockey (no check of course) since 4. And I had to laugh when my wife started to reconsider our support of my son's hockey.
To make a long story short, my son still plays and loves it. Mom is not too sure about this hockey stuff. Go Flyers, er, I mean Devils! :D

Ironically, I just got the following in an email from one of my hockey buddies...
quote: Enjoy - the memory of SC-96!
It was clear to see that Panthers fever was catching on in South Florida. Fans were packing Gold Coast Ice Arena to watch practices on off days and the Cats knew they'd have a full compliment of 14,703 at Miami Arena for Games 3 and 4, due to an 18-minute ticket sellout of the two contests. The home ice arena was something the Panthers were going to try to take advantage of.
"Here, it's unbelievable, the yelling and screaming…It sends chills down your spine." said Panthers right wing Tom Fitzgerald.
"A little hit and people go nuts," added captain Brian Skrudland.
The Panthers would like nothing more than to give their fans a chance to go nuts in Game 3. The winner would gain a 2-1 edge in the series. Pittsburgh would reclaim its home ice advantage with a victory. A win by the Panthers would mean a chance to go back to Pittsburgh with a lopsided 3-1 lead.
It was a great run, and created a lot of fans that still support the team. Unfortunately, the next year was rough, and then they moved to a 20% larger arena that's tough to fill on opening night. Not a great, devoted sports town. For me, it's all about the sport! I love hockey, ay. Go AVS, get Ray Bourque's name on the Cup, where it belongs!!! |

[/QUOTE]Forgotten... burns like 4 alarm chili! Bure is the most exciting scorer in hockey today, but he's also a cherry picker that can't deal with the rough stuff. I'd say right up the evil's alley. Lemieux... admitted he was out of gas. Jagr... played his last game for the Pens before the series even started. Even if Jagr's head would have been there, the Pens are not enough team to beat the Devils.
Blaming Bourque for the Bruin's playoff woes is rather unfair. You ask your best defenseman to play the against the best offensive guys on the other team, oh and by the way, carry our powerplay and score at full strength. Take a look at the supporting staff before throwing darts at the star. It's a little too simplistic of a statement.
As for the evil's, they are favored and should be. Defensively, they are compareable and probably a little more exciting with Neids and Rafalski. Offensively, they are stronger, particularly if their 2-4 lines contribute. I see the biggest intangible in the series being Mogilny... forgotten in the playoffs due to lack of production, he's exciting and if he gets hot, watch out! Then again, Drury, Tanguay & Hejduk are all capable of going large.
No matter how the series ends up, it's beginning with the two teams that belong! GO AVS! |
|
|
|
| Let the games begin!Good luck because the better team will prevail. We will be celebrating once again in the parking lot of the Continental Airlines Arena.Such a great site for a victory parade. |

The Avs looked awesome in game 1!
So what's next? Avs continue the march for the Cup, giving Ray Bourque what he's longed for? Or do the Devils make adjustments, take game 2, and thus the Avs' home-ice advantage? |

I can't remember who it was that posted the quote above, but I was wondering what they thought now after Game 1. Joe Sakic absolutely schooled the Devils Saturday night. I mean he literally left defenders on their knees while slapping two goals past Brodeur. It was obvious that the Devils - not the Avs - were the ones completely unprepared for a physical game.
Roy is in the zone. Go Avs!

1) Sakic weighs 185, not 160.
2) You can't pound what you can't catch. |

It was I who made that comment. I didn't think the Avs would survive losing Forsberg, but obviously they're thriving right now. Yes, they really do look like they're on a mission this year. It'll be really interesting to see how the Devils react in tomorrow's game. They're a lot better team than what they showed in game one. However, Sakic, Roy, Blake, Bourque, Drury, Hedjuk, and company really seem intense.
At the very least, no matter who you're rooting for, it should be a good series. |

| Forsberg is skating!! can u believe it, after having his spleen removed: say he's gonna play game 6? No game 6! AV'S IN 5!:: Comment After Sakic's 2nd goal Sat. nite #OK Scott, now pick up your Pants! This is no Ordinary Joe! |
|
|
|
That goal he scored was a thing of beauty, wasn't it? He just faked everyone out of their skates, many times over.
I can't resist thinking ahead to after the playoffs -- I wonder if he'll stay in Colorado, or will someone with enough money lure him to their team? He's got some mileage on him but obviously his heart is huge. |
|
|
|
Pierre... "You can't pound what you can't catch"... well said! Sakic was incredible, let's hope he keeps it up tonight.
wmquan... To see Sakic centering Bure in a Panther uniform, WOW! It ain't going to happen, but that would put them in the seats down here. I see Philly & the Rangers making a serious run at Sakic, they always have money to spend.
Roy was pretty special Saturday night as well. He hasn't given up a goal in the finals since the 1st period of game 3 '96... the 4th game was decided in the 6th period!!! I would say he's on.
NJ will come out with a different attitude tonight, lets see if they pickup more than 1 penalty before the game is decided.
Keep it going AVS! |
|
|
|
I'm a Hab fan. I'm behind them win or tie. Been pretty rough the last few years, and it doesn't look like it'll get better anytime soon.
Gotta go with the Avs, even if I hate their "rent-a-player" strategy, (eg, Blake, Fleury) if only to get Bourque that ring he so deserves. Too bad Sinden couldn't build a good enough team around him these past 20 years in Boston. That'll be bittersweet for Bourque, to win it in a non-Broons uni. |

New Jersey really did make the necessary adjustments in game two and won. Kind of an ugly game from some perspectives, but that's Devils' hockey and it can be quite effective.
Now Colorado needs to take one of the two games at New Jersey to try to get back their home-ice advantage. They looked a bit tired yesterday, but they'll need to perk up. |

In the first couple of minutes, I thought the wheels were going to come off for the Devils. But they fought through, got that HUGE breakaway goal and then played their game. It should be real interesting to see how the Avs respond when they hit Jersey. I see the Devils coming out playing real tough in the neutral zone, challenging the Avs and looking for mistakes. They could easily pull a flip of game 1 if the Avs aren't careful.
Pierre... sorry about the Habs, they've had a rough stretch of late. The Bruins were my first hockey love, and they're still up there in my heart. Because of their respective history's, they should automatically be competitive, but it doesn't work that way! I hope to see both teams rebound next year.
Keep the faith Avs! |

The evils may be firing on all cylinders now, but it ain't over 'til the fat lady sings. Just cause she's stepping up to the microphone in Jersey doesn't mean she'll get to belt.

Damn right we're not gone yet! Thursday should prove to be an interesting game for sure.
It pains me to see someone refer to a future hall of famer as "Dorque" - as well as to hope an injured player plays so that he could be injured further. I hope these comments were in jest. Although I must admit that it was this type of "fan" attitude that led me to root for the Rangers when I lived in NJ!
For my part, I would prefer to win a Stanley Cup facing a team that was at full strength - which is why I hope Arnott reappears for the Devils. |
|

|
quote: Originally posted by dbolin It pains me to see someone refer to a future hall of famer as "Dorque" - as well as to hope an injured player plays so that he could be injured further.
Whatta you expect from a Jersey fan?
As far as Arnott being in the lineup, I could care less. Injuries are part of the game, they happen. Look what happened to McKay in G1. Tough break (pun intended) on a guy that had really performed well in the playoffs. Devil's put Corkum in the lineup, he hadn't scored a playoff goal since '86 (maybe '96) and he beats Roy on a breakaway... amazing! (he also lead NJ in that game with 6 shots!!!)
Forsberg is a great player, and maybe the series would be a little different if he was in the lineup. Then again, maybe NJ would have been ready to play in game 1 if he was there??? Aside from, "there's always next year", sports are great for "what if's". Then again, maybe Forsberg plays in G6, and there is a difference! |
|
|
|
It's been a weird series in how the games, while not necessarily all one-sided, have heavily favored one team. One game NJ seems like it doesn't care, next game, they're all over the Avs. You've got to hand it to the Devils though.
It'll be great if the Avs can force game 7 in Colorado by winning on Devils ice in game 6. That'd be a heckuva game 7, regardless of who you root for. Complete with all the little dramas. Ray Borque, Sakic's possible departure, Forsberg's possible comeback, Roy's recent (bad) history in game 7's, the Devils having to win a third finals game on the road. |

So Ed, you think the Flyers are going to take a run at Sakic & Blake? What's the word up there. The Panthers were finally sold yesterday, and their already talking about bringing in some free agents to help. I can't see them going that high priced with the new owners, but they pledge to make the team competitive!!!
Just maybe you can get down here for a game and the Panther fans will be louder than the Philly fans ;) |
|
|
|
| Once again I have to praise the worlds smartest flyer fan.Devils in 6 sounds sweet.Look for me at the game Thursday night.I will be kissing the cup not Ray Dorque. You all can still feel sorry for him but I remember the big bad Bruins who tried to kill any star player so no Bruin or ex should ever have any joy.The Flyers were even worse ex Dave Schultz. |
|

Scotty
Yes, there is talk on Sports Radio here in Philly about Sakic, and I have read about the Flyers' interest in him in the papers. But right now the Flyers (and the Stanley Cup playoffs, too) are in the background as the Sixers open in game 1 tonite against LA. As soon as this series is over, though, I am sure we will hear more about the Flyers and Sakic.
(In a philly accent->) BTW, whadda youse guys think? Lakers in 5? :) The Sixers have a lot of guts, and that will be the only way they can take the series from LA, IMOHO.
As for the Flyers, we seriously need to do something to bolster the lineup of Primeau/Recchi. Sakic would be a welcome addition. If we get rid of Lindros and his salary requirements, we could pick up someone like Sakic. But getting rid of Lindros is going to be a big problem. Noone seems really interested in him, so subsequently we may miss the boat on Sakic, et al.
ESPN, Devils, Thursday night, the Cup... Take it to the bank... (ducking, running, and grinning again)

Oh yeah, forgot about that other sporting event going on... must be exciting in Philly. And to think there was a lot of talk about trading Iverson last year. My how times change. However, I don't think the MVP can carry this team through the Laker series. Heart won't overcome talent, and the Lakers have way too much talent for the 6ers. I'd be surprised if they win 1 game.
Dumping Lindros... sounds funny coming out of a Flyer fan. Not a fan of the guy from the get go, but he did make Colorado what they are today. I don't think he's in the equation at all, as they aren't paying him anything now. It's anyone's guess as to whether he'll play again. And aside from not getting a worthy player for him, I bet Clarke could care less if he ever plays again. Knowing that the Flyers overachieved this year and did well, the expectations will be there next year. I do see them going for the big guys, with serious cash... they need a superstar now that Lindros and LeClair have moved their bigness out of there. Philly seems like a great hockey town, but also a very demanding one.
Hey mdxwannabe... are Devil's fans from NY or NJ, what's the mix? Is "Jersey" a good hockey town? Miami was a great hockey town during the playoffs in '96. The further the team went, the less knowledgeable the fans became. Every time a Panther had a puck in the offensive zone, all you heard were the fans screaming shoot... nevermind there wasn't a shot to be had. Sadly, you still hear it at Panther games, from people that have been season tix holder for 5 years. They just don't get it... |
|
|
|
| Scotty the problem in Jersey is that there is no town to speak of.All the Devil fans are from Jersey they were mostly all Ranger fans for many years. Now that the cup is here and the Rangers really are a retirement home for millionaires maybe we will reprogram their brains. Then on the other hand Devil fans are much happier not to associate with Ranger fans. When the cup is won we celebrate in the Meadowlands parking lot because the Devils do not have an actual city or town to march thru. That is very sad. |

At least, you have an expansive parking lot to parade around! At best, they are still the defending Cup Champs, with 1 game to win for a back-to-back. Hard for me to feel sympathy. ;)
If the Panthers ever won the cup, I really wonder where they would parade. The arena is essentially in the Everglades way west of downtown Ft. Laud... hey, we could parade on airboats with the crocks & gators! :D
After Game 1 of the NBA Finals, it should be obvious that I do not make a living pre-deciding the outcome of sporting events. It should also be obvious that I don't spend my disposable income on the same said pre-deciding. |

Yeah, OK, Roy was on. I'll give you that. The Devils were cold. They were flat all night, while the Avs capitalized on some foolish penalties and some nice redirections.

| Congratulations to the Avs and their fans. The Avs really showed me something this series (while I was shocked that the Devils didn't show as much as I expected). It's nice to see Bourque get his Cup (I hope he retires on top), Sakic get rewarded for his great play this year (and for all his years), and Roy shake off his recent game-7 demons. |

I couldn't help it! After hearing so many Jersey fans (and non-Jersey fans) tell me how dead the Avs were after Forsberg went down, I just have to offer to start a group buy on crow - get to eatin'!
Roy is a living legend - his 3rd Conn Smythe is an incredible feat. I can see why Brodeur looks up to him. However, their play the last two games shows how big the gap still really is when it comes to crunch play.
Seeing Ray Bourque hoist that cup brought tears to my eyes. But, the truly great sight for me during the game was seeing Stevens on his can repeatedly. Actually, the only thing better than seeing Stevens on his butt was seeing Sakic punch it between his legs for the third goal!
As for Sakic (and Tanguay), what more needs to be said? They said it all on the ice last night.
Go Avs! |

True hockey fans of any stripe will weep . . . as I would have if the Avs had played last night like they did in games 2, 4, and 5!
At least it did go 7 games . . . I always enjoy the extra drama and a few extra games added to the season. Now I will have to patiently await the return of the Broncos, as it appears that the Rockies are not going to provide much entertainment for the next few months!
We'll have to get some baseball and football threads going when the time comes . . . |

You weren't the only one, d.
For me, it was quite an emotional game, as I'm sure it was for many Bourque fans. Seeing him accomplish his career goal was fantastic, it only would have been topped in a Bruin sweater. Yet, with all the teams Ray could have gone to, I was happy it was the Avs. I have a tremendous amount of admiration for their team and respect the way the handled adversity in the playoffs and ultimately succeeded.
Sakic showed his class by immediately handing the cup to Bourque... Roy showed his by downplaying a record 3rd Conn Smythe to talk about his good friend Ray... and the entire team showed theirs by engulfing Bourque with less than 2 minutes left in the game.
Hat's off to the Devils, who could have easily folded up their tent after going down 3-0, but they came to life and certainly put a scare into Avs fans... I know I got nervous. All told, I thought it was a great series highlighted by some incredible team efforts. Oddly, the efforts rarely came from both teams in one game. In the end, a true champion finally got his prize. I too hope he calls it a career. Winning his final game and the biggest game of his career... forever to look back on!
Ed... thanks for the tip of the hat, just pulling for who I wanted to win.
Glenn... if you went to game 6, unfortunate for you that you didn't get to witness a winning celebration. When I saw the Avs celebrate against the Panthers, it was one of the greatest moments in sports for me. (I was not an Avs fan that series!) I think you'll get a chance again next year, the Devils will be back.
Thanks to everyone contributing to this thread, it was a lot of fun during the series. As Duane stated, we'll have to get a few other sports threads going. Ed, you a Philly baseball fan... you should have something to be excited about. I'm a Mets fan... let's just not go there! |

ScottyB;
Yes, I am a baseball fan, and a Phillies fan. Philly loves to hate the perpetually-bad Phils.
But the Phils have been playing above their heads early this season. It's been great to watch, but true cynical Philly fans know that it's never too early to see the Phils fall to 5th place in the division. (cynical=Remember we have boo'd every great player in this city from Mike Schmidt to AI to Lindros, and we haven't had a Stanley Cup in several decades)
The Braves have suffered from unusually bad pitching, but they have been coming on as of late (3 games beind now). So they will be giving us a fight for the division lead in the next week or two, I think. How 'bout them Mets, ScottyB? 10-zip over Tampa.
BTW, maybe we need a new thread for each sport...

So Ed,
I crank-up the 'ole browser this morning, hit my homepage ESPN and see that LeClair has been resigned for 4 years. DAMN! I was really hoping the Flyers would part ways with him... he would have been great with Bure. For the first time in Bure's career, his assists would have surpassed his goals, and both numbers would have been healthy. You can just see LeClair in a Panther sweater, camped out if front of the opposing goalie, as Bure dipseedoodles, makes a hot pass and LeClair bangs it in! ARG!
Of course, that's all fantasy thinking and I've never really seen any press about the Panther being interested in LeClair, but it seemed natural to me. When Kozlov is healthy, he's a talented center for Bure, but he's no LeClair. I really hope LeClair has beat the injuries and comes back with a great year. He's A 1st class hard working great player. Then again, he's not a center... but he, Bure and Kozlov, that would have been a true #1 line!
The '01-02 Hockey Season has already started out well for you Ed... [/i]DAMN![/I] |

Hi ScottyB:
Yup, #10 is back for a reported 8.5 million, 4-year deal. That is slightly less than the 9 million deal he had been trying to get.
Only problem is that JL needs to work more with Recchi and Primeau to form a chemistry. As you mentioned, there is not much greater in hockey than to see LeClair camped out in front of the crease, battling it out, waiting for the pass or the deflection. He had great chemistry with Lindros, but we all know that Eric "The Baby" Lindros won't ever wear orange and black again.
So your comment about being off to a great start is correct, but it is only a part of our puzzle. Let's see. To think about it:
1) Chemistry needed on the first line
2) Depth in all other lines
3) Goaltending?
Other than that, the Flyers are certainly going to the Stanley Cup next year. (Yeah, right. There I go again--a cynical Philadelphia fan) :D
I'll stop ranting now. Sorry, Scotty. It's a love-hate thing with our sports teams here in Philly.

Agreed, Agreed, Agreed... Love the cynical Philly sports fans. No Championships in years, from a city that produced a lot over a couple of decades, does tend to spoil the fan base. Ya get cynical!
Rant all you want... I know love hate, got it going with the Mets. I was hating them a few weeks ago, writing off the baseball season and looking forward to college football, then they go and show signs of life. Sometimes it would be so much easier to be a Montreal fan (no flames pls). ;) |

Hey -- as a season ticket holder, I support your right to be cynical. At least until we see the Flyers raise the Cup in the FU Center...Or maybe my kids will someday after they inherit my tix...
1) The chemistry is already there -- just not with Johnny! Gagne, Primeau and Recchi are the top line. The question is -- who can they sign to center the second line with Johnny on the wing? We need a sniper!
2) Come on, they resigned McCallister! Remember the days when we could roll 4 lines consistently?
3) Is Boucher scarred for life or can he regain the form he showed in the 2000 playoffs? Can Roman learn to play as well in the playoffs as he did in the regular season? |

Let it be known that I am not a Flyer fan (big surprise there), however, when the Flyers were kicking it and the Panthers played them in '96, there were too guys I grew to respect and love as players. LeClair, and the guy that should be his center on the second line next year, Rod Brind'Amour.
Brind'Amour is another guy I would love to see in a Panther sweater. Not a top line center, but certainly a top #2. Great on penalty kills and the powerplay, always solid on defense and can perform on offensive when he has a little assistance... aka, chemistry. I don't think they could wrestle him away from Carolina, but they should try. He and LeClair would create the chem and give the Flyers one of the top second lines in hockey. If those 2 guys had a speedster with them, I think they would rival the Avs 2nd line.
Damn, you guys are lucky the Flyers have cash! |

I'd love to see Roddy back in a Flyer's uniform, too. Sure hate seeing him play for a go-nowhere team like the Hurricanes... |

Rick:
I agree there is some chemistry there with the Gagne/Primeau/Recchi line. But not enough, IMOHO, to keep up with the likes of the Devils' #1 line. Further, Pittsburgh and Buffalo both stymied this line, and the cycling offense, that we were used to seeing played here this year, was all but shut down.
Regarding us needing a sniper, I am not sure there is anyone available on the market right now to fill that need (at least no one that Clarke has shown interest in). So for the time being JL will playing on a shaky second line, with not much depth beyond that. Certainly we will not be rolling out 4 consecutive great lines any time soon. At least credit Snider for getting the LeClair deal done. It was ashame it was drug through the mud during last season. It should have been a no-brainer.
And regarding your last comment on goalkeepers: let me adapt the Yogi-ism -- 90% of their play is half mental. Boucher and Roman both show signs of greatness. Neither, however, have shown the consistency to rate them in the same league as Hasek or Roy. And I thought Vanbiesbrouck was the answer... Go figure.
Hey, we didn't talk about defense. Manderville, Delmore, et.al. One bright spot is Eric Desjardin. And for the record - McCallister's numbers were 60 games played, 2 goals, 2 assists, 124 PIMs. His recent signing makes me feel confident. :( This post could go on forever...
Billy B and the boys have their work cut out for them.

ScottyB:
How 'bout them Flyers signing Jeremy Roenick? Maybe Clarkie is really going to make a play at the cup next year! Roenick is perhaps the biggest name free agent available, and if you make a big trade with Lindros (I hear Detroit may be in the mix now) we could make a run at the Devils in the East!
