Lousy AM Radio Reception - Click HERE for Original Thread

All,

I live in the Dallas metro area and find AM reception terrible in my MDX. There are about two stations that come that barely have acceptable quality for listening (primarily AM820). This is a real disappointment because I can't listen to many games or to local talk radio.

My MDX is an '01 Touring with NAV that I bought this past January. Do you think there is a problem or do you also have trouble with AM reception?

Have the antenna replaced under warranty. There is an updated model that dramatically improved reception on mine.

Tex:

Try a Search on Titles Only using "reception" and a number of threads come up. Here's one: http://www.acuramdx.org/forums/show...light=reception

I have the same problem, but one Acura dealer I went to didn't know what to do about (or was just feigning ignorance). I'll have to try my home dealer where I purchased new and hold them to the fix mentioned by others here.

HAVE YOUR DEALER LOOK AT THE SERVICE NEWS FROM ACURA DATED FEBRUARY, 2004. THERE IS A SECTION IN THAT PUBLICATION THAT DEALS WITH THE CONNECTION AT THE ANTENNA BASE.

Thanks, Sage! That's the documentation I was looking for.

This info ought to go into the Problems FAQ.

May not be just "AM" related, but FWIW I think the X has below-average reception overall compaired to most other vehicles I've driven. A station 30 miles away comes in crystal clear on my Ody, but goes in and out all the time on the X. I've just put it off on being due to such a stubby antenna.

I have no problem pulling in stations 30 miles away, maybe the base model's radio is better than the touring's reception wise.
