well, i got up on the highway for the first time this weekend. what a pleasure to drive...smooth, excellent tracking, and very quiet except for a "whistling" sound. i think its coming from around the A pillar, or near it...difficult to assess the source, though it seems to disappear below 60 mph. its no so obtrusive unless the radio is off, and not particularly annoying... just there.
anyone else experience this? is this a normal characteristic...maybe from the outside mirror?
just wondering,
thanks,

Theres an easy wat to find it. A whistling noise can be from rubber seals that are not quite sealing against the door frame.
Use a strip of paper about two inches wide and 11 or 17 inches long. You close your door on the paper near the area you think is responsible and if you can easily move the paper in and out and side to side, you have a leak.
You can then use a piece of rubber gasket material or (from the local auto parts store) a special black goo made especially for this purpose to "build up" the seal in that area.
You just lift the seal up off the frame and place the stuff under it, which raises it off the frame a little, helping it seal better |
