When I turn my X's head lights on the Auto option - They do not shut off when I turn the car off? Is there a way to get this to work, I am so use to my Subaru which always had the headlights in the on the position but the car would turn them off when I shut the car down...
If I have to shut off my headlights every time I get out of the car - I would like to officially register this w/ Acura as "ANNOYING" :)
Thanks

beenframed,
If they are in the auto position, they should go off when you open the driver's door. |

If there in AUTO when should the head lights come on? Mine seem to stay off in the dark if there on AUTO - I have not fully tested this yet but I am pretty sure I tried a few times in AUTO at night and they do not come on?
Any thoughts?

hmmm....
your first post is saying that you cannot turn off the light when it is in AUTO mode, meaning the AUTO mode turns ON the light.
and
your second post is saying that your AUTO mode DOESNT turn on the light?
which one is it??? |

I think what he was trying to say was that A) his lights don't turn off automatically when shutting down the car and *also* B) the lights don't turn ON until it's really really dark.
I'm at the point now where my auto function is worthless and needs to be replaced. Lights don't turn on at all in total darkness most of the time (they used to, but not anymore) when in the "auto" position. Worse yet, when they DO seem to be working, the lights will sometimes turn themselves off while driving at night.
Brought it to the dealer and they couldn't replicate the problem. I don't know why.
So now I just avoid the auto funtion completely and turn my own #%*& lights on and off. Just like the old days.
FWIW, my auto wipers work about as well as my auto lights... but that's a whole other discussion for the thread about auto wipers. |

Actually I think my auto lights are a little too sensitive. I go under a bridge they sometimes come on. When I pull into the garage they come on. I wish they were a little less sensitive.
The wipers are wonderful. So far so good! |

BlackAcura - That's the same problem I seem to have.. Sorry I wasn't clearer and it made it confusing. The first problem is when the lights are in AUTO they do not turn on at dusk - It seems as if I have to be in a pitch black area.
Secondly - When it is on AUTO and the lights are working (Most of the time they dont come on) but when it is and when I shut the car off the lights do not go off automatically. I have tried opening the door>> getting out and locking the X with the remote.. But the lights still stay on, I have to go in there and manually shut them off.. |

The lights should go off when you open the door. Turning off the engine will not turn off the auto lights.
The sensitivity on mine is almost a little to high. Sometimes I'll be stopped at a red light under a freeway overpass in the middle of the day and the lights will go on.
I always leave it on auto. Haven't had any problems. |

Ahh~! :)
i think it is a problem that you have to take it to the dealer. mine works just like cycler15's. sorry, didnt know there are people having those problem. Thought is was just operational problem. |

A trip to the dealer is definitely required. Ours work as advertised. However, it is a bit on the over sensitive side, exactly the same as described by cycler15 & MDtex.
This is a lot better than beenframed's that does not seem to work properly at all.
Good Luck on the fix! |
