I know this is listed in the problems poll, however it does not give much detail. Last night I went to start our X, it had been sitting for ten minutes after a 1/2 hour drive. I went out, and it would not start, just cranked. after 4 tries, I shut off key, and sat for 30 seconds, and tried again. It started right up on the fifth try. Anyone have this problem. I run an auto repair center, and understand the dealer can not find the problem unless they can duplicate it. I have an appointment to take in Thursday, however I was just wondering if anyone has encountered this problem, and was it resolved?

Have you done your emission software recall yet?

Do a search on the word "immobilizer" -- that may help you ( the immobilizer disables the fuel pump if the car doesn't recognize the chip in your key).

Look for blinking lights on the dash when it doesn't start and look up the meaning of the diagnostics in the owners manual.

As stated you will probably find that the key didn't communicate, perhaps grounded or you weren't holding you mouth right, etc.

This happened to me once, I seem to remember the cure is simply to completely remove the key and try again.

There were no lights, or dtc codes in the ecm. I took it to the shop tonight and checked all the data, looks normal. I have not done the emissions recall yet, but that's just for the evap system, would not keep it from starting. I have an appointment for tsb on brakes, and emissions recall, i will have them check it out. It was just weird:3:

Probably the key didn't register (immobilizer comment above). This has been reported by several owners. That's why the suggestion to remove the key and start all over.

If that is the case the you get an indication of such on the dash via the immobilizer light.

I've had this happen to me before; the first couple times it wouldn't start, I had to give the car some time to "calm down" and finally started on the 9th or 10th time, although this was after the TLC tow truck was on its way to my house to jump start the car.

The most recent time, everything lit up in my car, but all it did was crank and crank. I was stranded and eventually had to have the car jump started. Why the car wouldn't start and the battery would be dead, when everything else in the car was lighting up like a Christmas tree, I don't know. Why it would be dead after driving it all day and stopping for 10 minutes? I don't know.

All I know is from the very FIRST day I owned this car, it's been a hard starter, and sometimes it won't start at all.

I wish Honda could figure out the problem...

And other Xs like ours start immediately. Has not stuttered on starting since we owned it, 28 months and 23,000 miles.
