| Purchased the extended warranty from a dealer. However, all the paperwork/contract says "Honda Care", not "Acura Care." Is this correct? |

| Yes Honda and Acura are the same company. |

If I'm not mistaken, Honda Financial Services administers both Honda Care and Acura Care extended warranties.
Both Honda Care and Acura care extended warranties can be purchased to cover new and used Hondas and Acuras, respectively, but they can also be purchased to cover non-Honda or non-Acura vehicles.
Thus if your contract says "Honda Care" all over the place vs. "Acura Care," I think your dealer sold you a "Honda Care" warranty to cover "a non-Honda vehicle." If your contract does say "Acura Care" with service at an Acura dealership, then you're probably okay and you can ignore the rest of this post.
I'm not sure what the specific differences are, other than you figure that the Honda extended warranty is cheaper. So your dealership, at minimum, pocketed the price difference. I would confront them and make sure that there is no difference. It sounds suspicious to me.
Also, make sure your contract states that you will get the service at an Acura dealer as opposed to a Honda dealer.
For more info on the two extended warranties, see Honda Financial Services at:

Acura of Mission Viejo has a link with a sample Acura Care contract (the link is down as I type this but has been up the rest of the times I've tried it):

As wmquan said, my thoughts exactly. There's info regarding "non-Honda" cars, and while I know Honda and Acura are the same, that's what I'm concerned with.
I did pay LESS than anyone else could find, so I'm not too concerned about them "pocketing" the difference. I am concerned that I told them it was an Acura, I thought I called an Acura dealer, but I see Honda all over. My other concern is that if I have to cancel this warranty (30 or 60 days?) and buy another one, the prices went up May 1. |

Well, if the price was less than what you can get from some of the on-line dealers, then it's not as bad.
Another possibility is that they made a mistake and you got the wrong warranty, but I doubt it.
The real key is whether or not the warranty has the same exact coverage as an Acura Care warranty. The best I would suggest is to compare the wording of the sample contract with the wording in your Honda Care contract. I think I posted the incorrect link before, here it is:
http://www.acuraofmissionviejo.com/...le-contract.asp
One of the keys to look for is whether the service is at a "HONDA DEALER" or an "ACURA DEALER." I know that "ACURA DEALER" is written all over the Acura Care contract and there are definitions at the top.
Perhaps your dealership is both a Honda and Acura dealership, so it doesn't matter to them? However, should you move while the extended warranty is in place (or sell the vehicle and transfer the warranty to a private party), perhaps it might require service at a Honda dealership?
Your Acura dealership should have told you they were selling you a Honda Care warranty, unfortunately. I think the key here is to find out if it really has the same exact coverage (service at any Acura dealership in the country, coverage of the same components, etc.). If it does not, then there is an issue that would be up to you to decide on. Good luck! |

| FYI - for anyone interested, I got the actual paperwork from Honda yesterday. While the program is administered by Honda, all the papers say AcuraCare and Acura parts, etc. So looks like I DID get a good deal and the right program! |

I bought new Toyotas and friends/relatives bought new Hondas. None of us have serious trouble after the warranty is over. That's why I don't buy extended warranty out of thought that Acura is luxury car then it would take a good care of its brand.
And hope the tradition continues on. |

OK dipersp, I'll bite -- how much did you pay and what coverage did you get (years, miles, and deductible). |

| I paid $980 to extend to 5 years/100k/$0 deductible. Most other I found were in the low $1k range. |

| Awesome price ... did you do this at time of purchase or later? ... if later, was this the same dealer you bought the X from? ... if later, care to share the dealer's name and contact info for others to attempt to leverage your success? |
