| What do you guys use to clean concrete and driveways? I have a rust stain on the concrete I would like to get rid of if possible. |

I had a rust stain last summer and tried several things including a mild acid and a wire brush but couldn't get rid of it. It's funny...I was just looking at the stain this morning and it is almost gone. So I guess my answer is time and Mother Nature.
Good luck

try clorax on the rust stain first, then muriatic acid. if both fail, gray latex paint.
....or if you believe in infomercials - CLR. |

| I cleaned the floor of our garage with muriatic acid a couple years ago in preparation to paint it. It cleaned the floor great, but the vapors caused every metal object left in there to form a layer of rust on them. Hand tools, yard tools, the metal casters on the shop vac ... heck, even the locks on the windows. Definitely uncool. |

Be careful with muriatic acid...it eats at the concrete which is why people use it to prepare for paint...it adheres better. If you do use it, use only a 5% (1:20) acid to water mixture, adding the acid to the water, not the other way around. Finish up by washing down with TSP (tri-sodium phosphate) and water.
One way to clean up oil stains (it may work with rust too) is to pour coca-cola on the stain and let it sit for 20 minutes making sure it doesn't dry. Brush with a stiff brush and rinse. Then clean the grey spot with a chlorine bleach mixture...can't remember the ratio. |
