Have owned an 02 MDX for 18 months and 35,000 miles. Haven't had a bit of trouble and getting ready to make another 4,000+ mile trip to Idaho and back.
Very Satisfied |

MOSTLY satisfied. My biggest issue to date is a leaky moonroof, which the dealer can't find. I'm extremely disappointed at the dealer, mainly because they dinged and scrached AND sent my brand new baby through the auto car wash.
Otherwise, I've driven plenty of other cars and SUVs and NONE compare in this price range. Currently have 3300 miles, so far so good. |

After 6 months 5K miles, very satisfied. Feel I got a good value for the money.
Things really like about the MDx.
1. Pretty good acceleration
2. Great NAV
3. Backup camera is a bonus
4. Very roomy for it's size
Things I am not so hot on.
1. Stereo is mediocre
2. Brake clunk
3. Gas mileage
4. Leather is sub standard
5. Bumper paint chips easily. |

Just completed my second year with my MDX and 30,000 mile service is scheduled for next week.
I still totally enjoy the car as much as when I first brought it home.
No significant problems at all. |

Very, very satisfied after 3 years and 44k miles. Superb for family trips and still looks great sporting around town.
Only regrets now are knowing that I paid more in 2001 than some have paid in 2004, and not having a choice in color. Both decisions were a result of low dealer supply at the time and my needing a vehicle immediately. I'll be better informed for the next X. |

| Having older parents that don't want to drive too far.......the 3rd row seat has been great for the kids when taking the whole family places. |

| I'm at 26k miles and still enjoying my X. Very satisfied with it, only concern is I don't know what to expect when I take it in for the tranny evaluation. |

My Babe's almost a month old, done about 400 miles. Very cautious with the break-in period now and just waiting to complete a 1000 miles so that I can have some fun with it!
Not a single problem! |

| I love my '02 and want to buy a new '04 but I paid such a premium for it late 2001 because of the high demand and low supply that I can't get my money back on a trade-in or private sale. But I'm so happy with my current X that I don't mind too much. |

I just recently passed 40,000 miles and haven't had a problem yet. Great car.
Gas tank is a bit small, it's actually smaller than the one on my S70! Go figure...
The gas mileage is pretty good for a car of its size, but it's still 6 or so less than the S70 (nearly 20 vs. ~ 26) . But I get better mileage than my buddy's Grand Cherokee! But most of my driving is Interstate, so that helps some.
But, it's a great car, I'd get another in a second (a few more years away, though...) I'd like a hybrid...

| I'm still very happy with my MDX but not with the price I had to pay especially in light of what you can get a Pilot for today with most of the same equipment. However, with a $6K discount on my wife's 04 Envoy XUV I paid the same amount as I did for the MDX at full sticker so maybe it wasn't so much after all. |

I was checking out my FS spare and noticed rust under the tailgate.
The dealer said it's normal??? It's on the weld spots and can be seen from underneath.
Anyone else notice this "normal" rust? |

Put 85K carefree miles on my 2001 and liked it enough to get a new 2005. I'm very impressed with the quieter ride and nice new features such as the XM radio, upraded navi and bluetooth phone link. :2: |

| I'm at 57K miles and still love the vehicle after having my transmission replaced, the brake clunk and the rotors replaced. All items that Acura fixed with no problems. The vehicle is excellent. Now living in Suffolk County, Huntington, I'm seeing these vehicles all over the place. They are becomming very common on the road now. My only issue is that I wish Acura would assemble this vehicle with the RL in Japan. |

Had the vehicle for 5 days and I am extremely staisfied. Solid Ride, Not much road noise and excellent NAVI system. THe XM radio is also a good feature.
Wish it had HID lights... |

Glad to hear your enjoying your vehicle. I'm sure you'll go with an aftermarket kit like most of us did. |

Just found this poll, so I voted in the "somewhat satisfied" group, the car is a great ride, however I'm done, no more Acuras for me. Just got back from my 10th or so visit for warranty work over the last 14 months; haven't had cruise control for nearly six weeks. The sensor switch the tech put in did not fix the problem, now they say I need a new cable reel assembly, which they already replaced once to fix the steering wheel audio controls.
Along with the TSB for the brakes (shim kit to stop noise which doesn't really stop it 100%), recall for evap update, steering column assembly replacement (audio controls again), the interminable wait for parts which average 7 to 10 days, and the NAVI DVD upgrades which are few and far between and not available and too damn expensive for what you get, the thrill is gone for me. I'll take my $40K and go somewhere else, maybe Lexus, maybe Infiniti, maybe even back to Toyota. Those of you who have had no problems, congrats, those of you who have know exactly where I'm coming from......... |

Now this is just awful. No one should have to go through what you have after spending that kind of hard earned cash.
Good luck on your next go round. Bummer :3: |

Yes I've enjoyed two trouble free MDXs and I feel for your pain.
IF seating for seven is not a priority, I really like the new RX330 styling and seriously considered getting one (I do not like the GX styling and its way beyond $40K). I ended up getting the Infiniti FX35 - it offers much more pizzaz than than the RX  And I did not need the cargo space (the FX35 replaced an '02 Acura TL-S as my daily ride) :1:
For a good FX site try: www.infinitifx.org Good Luck! |
|

| ayanomich |
It's funny, one of the minor reasons we bought the X was the 7 passenger seating since we have guests quite often, but we have only used it once. So we really don't need the extra two seats, they are too small for adults anyway and we don't have small children. Agree on the GX, kind of ugly in a way. I am waiting for the Lexus RX400 hybrid to come to market so I can check it out. I like the FX, but the Infinity dealer here has a bad rep as far as customer relations and service.
I'm not going to trade or sell the X right away, I'll just bide my time until I see what is out there in the next 6 months or so. Hopefully the cruise control will finally be fixed by next week and I won't have any more issues, but I doubt it. |

| I orginally bought the MDX primarily for the 3rd row seating (formerly had a Chrysler T&C minivan) and since 2001 only used it twice. When I went looking for a replacement vehicle, the 3rd row wasn't an issue. I drove the BMX, Volvo, RX330, Murano, Pacifica, Envoy, and still bought a new MDX (didn't like the local Infiniti dealer and the FX really didn't "do anything" for me). I am very happy with my new X - Acura has made some nice modifications to the original. I have been a member on this board since before buying my 1st one and have read all the misc. problems & complaints, and other than a slight transmission glitch in my 2001, I haven't had any problems. The local dealer has been excellent and gave me a nice deal on the new one. I always get a nice TL loaner when in for service and get my X back washed and vacuumed. Looking forward to seeing the next generation of MDX's in a year or two and may just get another one. |
|

| ayanomich |
My dealer has been pretty good too, I've had a couple of TL loaners and the last two loaners were TSXs. They do strive for customer satisfaction, and I do think they are trying their best to fix the problems, although I am still leery of some of the decisions made by the techs, such as why not check out the cable reel assembly before ordering a new one? I don't think they did that because of the noise in the steering column which I found, not them.
Anyway, I might be appeased if my next loaner is the new RL and I can drive it for a whole day!!!!!!! |
|

| ByeByeChrysler |
The techs at my dealer got a little lazy.
I was giving the X a good inside cleaning, and noticed a screw/bolt missing from
the passenger kick plate, its very loose, must have happened when they changed the filter.
Doesn't rattle, but they should have fixed it.:3: |

Nop! Too many visits to the stealers in my first 2 years.
1. Emission problem --warranty
2. Windshield wiper too noisy -- can't fix
3. Brake clunk -- fixed 3 times by dealer --warranty
4. Steerling wheel audio control - fixed 2 times by dealer --Warranty
5. Cheap paper Bose's
6. noise at front passenger side suspension --fixed by dealer --warranty
Now at 35K, keeping my fingers crossed for the next problem --tranny--
 |

| With almost 5 months and 5K miles I'm very satisfied. Of course there is still a lot of room for improvement but IMO they're minor. |
|
|
| DaleB |
The latest 2005 MDX test (by NHTSA) banged out 5 stars for front and side collision results, passenger and driver. Now, that's something to be pleased about!
The 2002 has the same rating without side curtains. This has been a safe vehicle from the start! |
|
|
| BWSmith201 |
Well, I'm now at 65,000 miles or so, and I still have yet to have any kind of problem, in the tranny or anywhere else (except the rear AC compressor, but that's pretty darn minor in the grand scheme). I am immensely satisfied with this vehicle. Never had a single problem, it runs beautifully!!
(I sound like a commercial!)
There are things I would change, but nothing major. I've upgraded all the things I REALLY would like it to have (HIDs, XM, soon a nav), so it's set up right.
NO complaints. :2: |
