The TV and HD box are installed and what a great picture. Now I wish everything was broadcast in HD. Nothing like watching NHL playoffs in HD.

I know a number of you are experts so what do you recommend? Keep in mind I'm not growing $ on trees when you share your thoughts. I would like to get a good unit though.

I'll be connecting to the standard stuff DVD player, TV, HD box, etc. A number of zones of speakers to power as well. Plan to add a sub-woofer too, so ideas there would also be appreciated.

Appreciate your recommendations. :6:

Try www.hifi.com (Cambridge SoundWorks). They sell good stuff, give you specs and recommendations out the wazoo, and give you 45 days to ship it back if you don't like it.

I recommend the Denon line of receivers.

How much do you want to spend?

Outlaw Audio...best bang for the buck. Or go with Denon first, and Onkyo second. Just my 2 cents.

#1 Choice Denon AVR-2803 is excellent if want to spent that kind of money.

#2 Choice Want to save a little the Sony STR-DE895 is also excellent, this I went with and the sound is great.

I'll second Cambridge Soundworks. I have the Movieworks 308 HT package, Outdoor speakers and Microworks PC speakers from CSW. Great sounding speakers.

The link earlier showing a price for the Denon avr-2803 @ $ 2299 or so is not correct? The price is more like $ 600 - $ 700 for that model.

A quick search with "pricegrabber.com" shows the 2803 @ $459 and the 3803 @ $529.

Is that a typo of Onkyo or a cheap knock-off brand?
