I'm moving to SC. Less than 1% sale tax. It's real tax heaven.
:18:
Way to go, don't miss it! But read on the tranny problem before sign the deal.

I think it is a fair price. I'd be happy with that. We have a similar configuration (2004 T/N), although not with a towing package, that we paid about $600 more than you. However, we did so last November when they were still fairly new. If I was buying one today, more than mid-way through the model year (October is when they typically bring the next MY) I'd expect a price about what you got after negotiation.

I think you can feel good about making the deal. Enjoy.

tigerrhino2000,

I am VERY jealous ... paid MSRP for our 02 Touring/Nav in Dec 01. Acura wasn't dealing at that time (at least that I could find).

I paid more for our 02 than you paid for your 04 = ouch 1 !!

Your deal makes our 02 worth less on resale or trade-in = ouch 2 !!

Hey, that is the way of the world -- enjoy the MDX and know that you paid a lot less that some of us!!!!!!

Don't be jealous, srpbep!
You don't know that tigerrihino2000 may have been suffered for the last two years. His wife nag, his neighbors laugh at, his colleages ridicule, his butts itch for not driving the baby sooner. That pain is immeasurable!

First, congrats if you get that deal. Sounds great!
Second, best color choice, IMHO ;)
Third, I'm jealous about the dealer charge of ONLY $98.50. Most dealers here charge $300-500 dollars for dealer charge, (and it ISN'T negoshable! )
Hope it's all true.

Congrats Tigerrhino !! Sounds like you got a good deal. All I want to know is how did you get the ok from your wife ?? (hey hey hey) :claphead:

Lots and lots and lots and lots of negotiations and promises! Ha Ha.

Thanks all!

And by the way,

SC tax is 5 or 6% with a $300 cap on vehicles.

As someone who paid MSRP (Arrrgh!) that's a really good deal.

Sounds like a good deal to me! I got something very similar to your deal. Try and see what other accessories you can have added...you'll be surprised what they will give you. I paid a little less but I didn't get the towing package and my dealer threw in side steps, cargo cover and BSM for free when I asked. Welcome to acuramdx.org and enjoy the ride!

Remember to post some pics when you get it!

Congrats to Tigerrhino for getting a good deal - not the best I've heard of (MDteX gets that honor) but a good deal. I paid $38,545 with zero dealer charge. In fact I do not even know what "Dealer Charge" is??

Great deal....make me think of trading my '03, I love the dual exhaust on the '04.

I live in NC, can I just take advantage of the SC sales tax if I purchase in SC...or does the NC tax man know how to ding me anyway? I paid about $1200 in sales tax!...seems like for a $900 saving there would be a lot of people crossing the border to take advantage of the low sales tax.
msu79gt82
... but in Texas you only pay sales taxes on the trade difference. If you trade an '03 the difference should NOT be that much. I only had a $12K difference on an '01.

Good point, forgot that tax is only on the difference. Still curious however if the NC tax authority would ding me on a SC purchase.
tigerrhino2000
From what I understand, the sales tax will be whatever your state of registration is. That is where they hit you up for the tax. I just recently learned all of this. I think I am telling it right.

Yep. You generally pay sales tax in the state where you register the car. In other words, you would not pay SC tax, but you would pay NC tax. Sorry.

Better call tax collector up and volunteer to pay them the tax before they arrest you and the baby for tax evading.
