I found the article, Peephole in motel , on USA today, 5/13/2004, kind of disturbing.
Is there a way to check if the hotel's mirror is two-way? |

Nah, I mean test w/o break it?
How about stick the picture of abused Iraw prisoner in reverse on the mirror to see if there is a scream on the other side? |

| It sounds like they scratched the reflective material off the back of the mirror in this case. But you can tell the difference between a mirror and a two way mirror. A real mirror will appear to have a gap along the edges as you look at the reflection; the two-way will not. |

You mean if I point the finger to the two-way mirror, both real and reflected fingers touches w/o gap?
How about keep pointing the finger at it and listen if any hissing sound is emitted? |

I'm not sure which "gun" you really mean.
Not a lot of people carry a real gun to the motel unless they are professionals or criminals.
I'm afraid I'd have to hear some giggle. |

I suppose either "gun" will work. You will hear a scream or a giggle depends on the caliber. |

(If you're serious about really wanting to know) Another way to test a mirror is to touch it with your fingertip. If you see a gap in the reflection, it's "unaltered," if you don't see the gap, it's a two-way.

| Thanks you very much for your tip. I guess I'll try both method: finger and gun for double confidence. |
