Bad Gas? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Today on several occasions when doing a relatively fast but not real fast acceleration to a bit over 60 then slowing down without any breaking around 60 mph I got some roughness or slight shudder from the engine for about a second or so. I didn't notice any change in the rpms but by the time I checked the tach it had passed. Doesn't do it every time and doesn't do it under normal acceleration. The transmission shifts very smoothly up and down it seems. This seems like a bit of something moving through the gas or something sticking after hard acceleration. My worry is that we are moving next week and will use the car to drive 1300 miles. Should I put a gas treatment in, have the fuel filter changed or just see what happens? It's a 2002 with only 17,000 miles of virtually all city driving on it. It did a similar thing about a year ago while accelerating and I chalked it up to bad gas.

Which gas are your referring? Intake gas or output gas? J/K
Usually with the extreme case, the bad gas would result in misfire that gives off some "gas" along with booming sound. That happened to my Toy Celica and Supra when running with ARCO and Thrifty gas back in California. I quit using them and the problem go away.

Long term effect would be dirty chamber, plugging injector, poor mileage, and knocking engine.
