Partial to XM myself, but it looks nice.

The reason It might appeal to me is that it is all include on one package.

I've got a Pioneer XM of a similar design, it looks good! It's a good deal, too. I don't know anything about Sirius' service, but having satellite radio is absolutely wonderful! If it's anything like XM, I'd say go for it!

I've got Sirius and love it. There is really no difference in the two satellite radio providers unless one of them has a particular stream (station) that you have to have. Some people will say one sounds better than another, or one has fewer dropouts than another, but both of those points are entirely based on the equipment you have and where you are situated in the country (and what type of environment you drive in).

As far as the system goes, it looks OK. For a new install, I would look around for some of the latest units and tuners and hunt for specials.

Where were you planning to mount the controller (the display module that is about 3/8" thick) ?

I was considering the Kenwood HTC-H2A1 all-in-one unit, and think it might fit in the space under the center dash. It's 5"wide x 4-5/16" deep x 1-3/4" high. There is a BlitzSafe adapter that will interface the unit to the MDX aux input (as long as you don't have the RES). Check out the unit here

Anyway, if it won't fit, I'll have to wait until someone comes up with a better solution, because the installations I've seen with people hanging the XM Roady and others from the headliner or sticking them somehow to the center console look TERRIBLE. I would rather NOT have it than have a horrible installation like those.

Honestly, it really pisses me off that Acura has XM integrated into the audio system in the TL (and Honda has it in the Accord), but we can't get it in the MDX. It wouldn't surprise me if it showed up as a standard feature in 2005 models.

I also think the Roady and SkyFi are on the big side. That's why I selected the Commander. It looks the least like an add-on. Fits nicely in the not an ashtray or sunglass holder. Or can be installed in a dash or other panel totally flush.
Hardware will only continue to improve with both systems as they mature.

Im just concerned that all these require a additional antenna. Frankly Im getting to be a lazy a** breaking down the interior and reassembling it. I figure I have done it 5+ times. Is there try out period. Say I want to listen to it in my home and the area I want to have it doesnt get a great signal can I cancel my memebership, how would that work?

Not to worry. The antenna is not very intrusive. You don't need to make holes, cut-outs, etc. Check out these threads....just as easy to remove. With the latest Blitzsafe adapters for the XM Commander you don't even have to tap into existing wiring.
Membership is month to month. Contracts if you choose. Initial outlay is not a lot. And you could recover some expense on ebay, etc. Even on here, if you have it complete with adapters.

If you read the forums, xmfan.com, xm411.com there are very few that are unsatisfied with the service.
If the hum-drum of every day radio in your car is enough, then it may not be for you. But if you like good sounding music, and lots of commercial free variety, it's the way to go.
