Almost about to buy/lease the new 04 MDX (as soon as we sold the house) but I had a question on the auto insurance. I'm currently with Progressive right now but feel their premium is too high with little benefits and the claims centre is nothing but BS. My 02Honda Accord is in the body repair shop following a minor accident....noone was in the car when it happened (thank God) but Progressive is treating the claim like a criminal case even though several eye witnesses have testified the other vehicle that hit our parked car in the mall! On top of that, there was a minor scratch just within 3 inches of the rear bumper (the impact center right now) that Progresive claims not to cover during the repair. I mean, I don't know how the body shop will repair the rear bumper without painting over that scratch as well! Pathetic claims service!
Anyway, as soon as the car comes back and we buy the MDX, we are thinking insurance companies. We have no tickets, the 1st claim so far and it's not our fault anyway, and both have good clean 3 year driving records.
Can anyone please recommend a good company that can give us good rates on the MDX with good claims service as well?
Thanks in advance!
PS We are gonna get that '$399/month' fixed 4 yr lease deal from my local dealer (Elk Grove Acura, CA) |

| Hands down best insurance company out there is Geico, hassle free and cheap premiums. Also offers the best extended warranty. |

| As a Married driver with no accidents, I feel Allstate is very good. I have my homeowners insurance also with them which gives me a discount in addition to the multi-car discount. I also take the defensive driving course which also gives another discount. When I was younger with a bad driving history I used to use Geico and they had good rates also. |

they are more expensive than Geico and are not hassle free. I pay $1,100 per year for two vehicles, full coverage with $500 deductible, and extended warranty on both. Allstate here is $1,600 for similar coverage. |

In a recent compaison with Geico it was the same if not a little higher in New York. I do know if you don't have a perfect driving record, Geico is much cheaper. Allstate only became competitive when I had got married and had no points or chargable accidents in my history. |

Mercury has the lowest preimum but may not have the best claim service, AAA has better service but higher preimum than Mercury. Since you got an accident, stay away from All state/ state farm, they will ripe you off. |

All generalizations.
A lot of service varies with the area too. I have had Allstate home & auto for a good 15 years.
Had fences replaced, a sun room rebuilt, car dents repaired, etc. etc. and never had a claim refused or a substantial increase in premiums.
When the sunroom caved in, it was after a major rain and wind storm. They took care of everything. Even filed the claims with FEMA, etc.
When the fences went, they just asked me over the phone about the construction, and mailed me a check based on length.
I used to have AAA, and they had good claim service, but the rebates they would send back every year were a joke. Found out all they were doing was adjusting the price of the policy to be competitive.
Fortunately, have never had a serious enough accident to really test the coverage and claim service. I would give the agent an update every year, age adjustments, driver changes, etc. adjustments were made. I never had to keep calling them to make changes.
Every couple of years I would go out and get quotes, and there was never enough difference to for me to change. I finally stopped.
Rates have been stable, and even drop a little some years.
So everybody has a different story. Do what works for you. |

Respectfully disagree. Currently have AMEX (American Express)through Costco and they have lowest premiums anywhere. Also includes roadside assistance for when you are driving sans Acura, or when Acura TLC is not available. :29: |

I have the road side assistance with Geico as well. Are you saying that you can fully insure a MDX and a Civic EX, have free roadside assistance, 7 year 100K mi extended warranty on both vehicles, all for LESS than $100 per month? (not to mention absolutely no hassle, friendly service -- with no exceptions for the past 14 years) |

Since I have been with them for 30 years and amassed a ton of discounts along the way, I've not found anyone reputible (Geico, AAA, Costco, etc.) that can beat my State Farm rates...

I agree, although I have only been with State Farm for 21 years. Insurance depends on a multitude of things, including location. Shop around with the reputable companies and get the best quote.
I personally like having an agent that knows me by name, and not having to call a 1-800 number if I have a question or claim.
Good luck to you. |

But try to change carriers! You may have to enter the 'witness protection program'. |

Hey there keremoner, want to hear some good news, I'm saving a bunch of money on my car insurance with AMEX.
I called Geico today and asked for the same coverage I currently have with Amex. After some number crunching the guy said "there's no way I can beat that."
I have an '02 X, (see sig below) and a fully loaded '01 Camry (top pick among car thieves) LXE, free roadside assistance, same warranty you have on both vehicles, and Geico couldn't beat it. Maybe due to I'm an older driver, or different part of the country?
Have to admit I haven't submitted any claims on these vehicles to test the claims service. |

Great place, Vancouver, WA. Great ins. rate too, but you are not exactly 'Livin' in LA' either. Come on down to CA..we'll double that for you! :D |

You can already call us little California since everyone from California is moving up here to the Porland area! But you can keep your ins rates down there!!! |

| I have all my insurance through Nationwide (car, life, homeowner, umbrella). I found their rates are very competitive and they are great when you need to file a claim. Switched my wife over to Nationwide from GEICO and found it was slightly cheaper even without considering the multi-car discount we got! |
