Just curious to do a new poll of the 2001-2004 Owners to see there satisfaction levels.

I personally had some issues which were very small items and the dealer has addressed all of them.

I'm Very Satisfied!

Somewhat satisfied except for the unknow future of the 03' transmission. Any $40k car should have trouble-free engine/transmission for at least 100k miles. Like the pwer of the engine but not the interior, a bit lack of luxury, okay for the money though.

When 1st introduced the MDX was definately a front runner. Time has passed and there are a lot more vehicles available. I believe that the competition is much greater which challenges the MDX. Before, people were willing to overlook:
** Brake thunk
** Gas tank thunk
** Interior noise
** Interior quality
** etc.

I believe that the issues now have grown in significance due to the increased competition.

I just thought to do a more recent poll, and had forgot about this prior thread.

The other poll is LESS than a month old.

A month is more recent.

A month does makes a difference - a month ago I would have said very satisfied, now it's somewhat satisfied with a bias towards less. In '02 the MDX was the only choice in it's class and we paid thru the nose for the privilege, today it's a whole different ballgame . . .

OK I concede that there are valid reasons for folks to change their minds over a long period of time (like from '02 to '04), but MOST people will NOT experience a significant change in satisfaction in less than 30 days!!

Hmmmmm ... a blown trany or engine could change my mind in 36 nanoseconds ... heck, I'm half way there without the engine or tranny ... really starting to wish I had leased and not purchased.

Ooooops ... don't want to start anther lease vs. buy "discussion" but I really am really starting to see some perks to leasing.

Exactly my point, a mere 6 weeks ago I was driving in ignorant bliss till this 3rd recall surfaced . . . satisfaction is a relative state of mind and can change in a heartbeat . . .

btw - srpbep, don't you think a cute teddy bear avatar is a bit misleading - methinks catbert or dogbert would be a more fitting avatar . . . (IMNSHO) :D

My wife is on her third MDX in 3 years. Our dealer has been very accomodating and the lease payments don't rise so hey! lets get a new one... (told be we had to keep this one for two years though) THis latest is a month old 04 with dark grey and light grey interior. The engine is a bit better than the last one and we got the rear entertainment and NAV package. WHile QUebec is NOT a good place for the nav package as nothing much outside of Montreal is covered, it 's still fun to listen to the french hot girl doing the turn by turn. THis thing can't get me from A to B properly. I used to use a much more sophisticated Pilot with my laptop but it's a pain to install, boot up etc. The one thing I find missing in the system is the ability to tell the system to avoid certain roads. The laptop had to ability to upload trips to the manufacturer's website so that newer versions could benefit from trip info. I heard the 2005 RL will have a realtime traffic manager linked to the GPS. I wonder if it's been outsourced at first and then hopefully starts building two-way traffic info with its own cars..

One thing which is getting worrisome at Acura is the use of dashboard material. This new stuff nicks at the slightest abrasion. I keep reading about people complaining about it. As most carmakers subcontrat whole parts assemblies, the engineers let one design mistake go through . I hope this is not a trend in trying to keep costs down and lowering the value of the product.

I'm on my 2nd MDX. And as in all vehicles, it's how much one can tolerate the issues.

I had no problem with the 01's but had to return due to leased vehicle so hopefully I can say the same with my 04. :)
