Daniel,
Is the any way we could have the forums that a user opens either go to the first un-read post, or sort the messages with the most recent message first?
The reason I ask is because I always find myself doing the same thing on this site.
I go to Forums, click on New Posts since I was last on.
A list is generated
Then I open each in a new window so I can read them each in turn.
With each window (unless it's a new thread) I have to click on go to unread posts. This is not big deal unless the thread is really long and then it has to go to another page.
If it would take me directly to the first unread post, or sort them in reverse order, that would be faster I think. Of the two I'd prefer it take me to the first unread rather than sort in reverse order.
Is this possible? Just a suggestion.
Thanks, we appreciate the site and all the work.

| I like this suggestion, it would save a lot of time and clicking. |

This is a good suggection IMHO. I too enjoy reading almost every new post. This as you know can be a time consuming endeavor. I am all for ideas that keep this site as streamlined and as easy to navigate as possible.
PS: It is with easier navigation motives in mind when I and others seem to be hardnoses with respect to using the SEARCH feature and to keep the number of total threads to a reasonable minimum. |

Isn't this already a function? I just click on "Forums" and all the recent posts come up in VIEW NEW POSTS. Then I just click on the threads I'm interested in and then once I'm in the thread I click on "first unread post' in each area. Most of the time it works pretty well. Sometimes it hangs up a little...depending on the number of pages in the thread.
**Revision**...OK...OK...I see your point. My only issue is that the ability to jump to the 'first unread' in the "first position" is that it keeps folks from scanning and noting similar ideas or posts. After having started a few threads, it's been my experience that folks don't tend to read anyway...and tend to ask redundant questions...either in the thread...or sometimes Email or PM. This isn't a bad thing...but it might get worse if the ability to view the last few comments as a 'refresher' was omitted. However...I could see this as being an OPTION for the individual user and they could select this in the PROFILES area. Then...you could switch back and fourth. This would work extremely well if you are already real familiar with the thread contents.
I would like to see a better organization of basic searchable information though. We're so spead out that even the search function brings up umpteen threads and who needs that? No wonder people are asking the same questions over and over again. I'd almost like to see the SEARCH focus on the 'key word search' AFTER finding the appropriate threads. Currently, the user has to read each post for content. Some programs will "blue" the word out so you can keep hitting "next" etc. Geeze...make it easy.
