Sweden are what is known in the football world as a "jammy" bunch. You can't convince me their game with Denmark wasn't fixed. Their last two games were salvaged by literally last-minute goals.
Glad the Italians are out, their style of play/philosophy stinks-we're ahead, sub the forwards for defenders and play in our half the rest of the game-not exciting to watch that's for sure, so they end up tying their first two games and then they are out. Ciao baby. Italy has played with this approach for decades now, started when their great game guru Efren Herrera created the 4-4-2 system back in the 60's, defensive in it's very nature. Besides, they are the epitome of hacking, jersey-pulling, and acting. I think Italy holds the record for International Oscars on the pitch.
France, they are another load o' rubbish altogether, a team made up of individual stars that don't play well as a team because they are all primadonna's, kind of like Real Madrid at the club level.
All that being said, I love watching European football as opposed to south american rubbish. |

Now that the Sassenachs (England) and the Frogs are out of it. I'm rooting for the Chechs and Holland. Chechs are a likely underdog but have put up a good showing so far.
Holland, with Van Nistelroy (Man.U.), Bergkamp (Arsenal), Jap Staam, and the DeBoer brothers are my pick at this point, although Portugal are a strong dark horse with the home country advantage.
