Just got back from Don Sherwood's (Bay Area). Maxfli M3 and M3LT (low traj) balls are on sale for $15/dozen. This is a steal for this ball. I've been playing them the past few months and they're terrific.
To give you some idea of the type(s) of ammo I like: I've enjoyed playing Titleist Tour Balatas, Titleist Professionals, ProV1's, Maxfli Revs and Maxfli A10's.
The M3 has a similar feel to the old Titleist Professional. A nice "snap" off the clubface, but good spin characteristics and plenty soft for around and on the greens.
Spin performance is similar to the ProV1 "stop and drop". They'll spin back, but not crazy like a Balata.
You can work 'em and they're pretty durable, too (though I usually knock one into the woods before it'd matter).
At $15/dozen they're a killer deal.
golfsmith.com (they own Sherwood's) still shows $20/doz, but perhaps they'll knock it down; worth checking. |
