I just saw this article: Alpine Interface Adapter for iPod to ship this fall. Does any one have any idea if this will work in the MDX? The articles says that

The solution allows users to control iPod playback using the head unit's front panel buttons or remote; view song information (artist, album and/or song name) on the display; and easily find tracks through the receiver's Quick Search interface. Alpine is also integrating exclusive MediaXpander technology, which restores lost detail to compressed digital media, according to the company.
I'm still extremely happy with my iPod/Blitzsafe intall, but the Alpine's solution that "allows users to control iPod playback using the head unit's front panel buttons or remote; view song information (artist, album and/or song name) on the display; and easily find tracks through the receiver's Quick Search interface" sounds very intriguing to me! This sounds even better to me than the recently announced iPod your BMW solution. Ah so many toys, so little time . . . ! :)

Well, the acura page sends you to the Alpine web site for ordering Navigation DVDs, so the head unit must be Alpine. I wonder if it is a 2004 Ai-Net.
i am currently taping into the aux inputs of the DVD player on my 2004 navi+DVD. I am using a Belkin charger with line level output that is wired into the aux inputs. However, it would be nice to control the iPod from the touch screen. |

| I spoke with my Alpine rep today and he informed me that the unit is only designed to work with the aftermarket AI-Net head units, however he tells me that work is underway at Peripheral for a protocol adapter to make the unit work with some OEM applications. I will post any news as I get it. |

| Unfortunately, the unit is only compatible with Alpine's 04 Ai-Net equipped aftermarket head units. If something comes out for the OEM Alpine units, I'll let you guys know. |

| Just got the KCA420i up and running in our store demo board. This thing is awesome. The first iPod interface that is worth having IMHO. I might just have to put an Alpine deck in my X. Now if they would just come out with an OEM interface.... |
