So next week our X will undergo the ultimate test. We have friends visiting from Europe and we are going to take them through Ontario & Quebec regions, hopping from city to city and ultimately staying for a few days at the Le Manoir Richelieu
up in the Laurentians (anyone have been there?). The trick is that it's going to be 4 adults and 2 children traveling about 2 thousand km. over a week. We haven't decided how we going to arrange the luggage, since all 3 rows will be utilized.

Anyway, our itinerary is Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Le Manoir and on the way back to Toronto we may stop somewhere else.

I will be also utilizing a Bluetooth GPS unit from Socket and an iPaq PocketPC which is loaded with both Deluo & Mapopolis maps for navigation.

I'll be reporting as our trip progresses.

I'll be very interested to hear how your GPS system works!

Sounds like fun, lots of pics?
On the luggage, travel light, use that roof rack, have fun!

Le manoir Richelieu is not in Laurentian mountains. In fact, it is located in the Charlevoix area, north of the Quebec city.

Charlevoix is one of the most beautiful regions of the province of Quebec. I am sure you will like it.

Have a wonderful trip.

Reporting back.

Just got back from our trip recently. As I mentioned, there was 6 of us traveling, 4 adults and 2 kids. I was preparing my roof top cargo box when I was surprised by the fact that we were able to fit everything into the trunk space behind the 3rd row! My friends couldn't believe it (I couldn't believe it either!).

Being a 2001 Canadian MDX, we had no Navi. So I came up with a $100 solution. Bought a Socket GPS Bluetooth receiver, borrowed an iPaq from work, installed software, entered my destination points, and the rest is history. It was all smooth sailing from here, traveling 2,000 km without even consulting a map. Some of the rural Quebec roads were not on the map, but I was able to download some demo maps from Mapopolis (with their free viewer).

We stayed in 5 cities (towns): Ottawa, Montebello, Quebec City, La Malbaie, Montreal. Stayed in Fairmont hotels which makes a huge difference. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

The MDX handled the trip perfectly, except for the bad EGR Valve a few days after we came back. Bad Quebec gas? Too much MMT, according to Honda. Oh well.

Our hotel in Quebec City:

Damn! Is that the hotel, or the view from your hotel??

Looks like you had a lot of fun! :)

Whats the joke here? :D

Daniel,

Great pic! Our honeymoon was a week in Charlevoix in 1983; spent 2 nights at the Chateau Frontenac. Great spot.

BTW, easy on the Quebec-bashing re: bad gas. That could easily have been trucked in from Ontario or the Maritimes, depending on where you fuelled up.
