I'm looking to purchase a dvd with tv turner in-dash player to install with the SAM unit. Does anyone recommend a brand/model for dvd player? I like the features of the Pyle PLTVD122 with tv turner! I can't seem to locate whether it has a single or dual antenna 3.5mm input. Please help!!! Any suggestion on other models will be helpful....thanks

Did you get Sam's AV switcher? The NAV conversion has a built in TV tuner.

I am ordering it tomorrow morning. The guy at Sam's said that the Nav. system #1 will be discontinued (but he still has some left). He suggested that the Nav. system #2 be better, it has RF vs. infared, more imputs/outputs. I was also considering whether the system 1 is better with the TV tuner or is it better to go without the tuner and get a dvd w/ tv tuner seperately??? Whats your take on this? I was wondering if the nav. with tuner and "4 mini antenna" inputs makes a difference vs. a dvd that only has one set of mini inputs?!!

I was debating between the two when I purchased mine a few months ago. The A/V switcher has a very nice feature that the NAV tuner does not. It allows for an independent display of up to 4 different sources onto 4 different output. It's a good idea but my wife is not very good with electronics and I thought that would only complicate things when she drives the kids around. Regarding the remote, I installed the remote eye under the dash and has no problem.

I think it's great if you have a full multi-media show car that is displaying it's capabilities. My setup is very simple so the A/V switcher is a lot more than what I needed. I currently have the NAV/tuner conversion with a myron & davis DVD player and two 7" headrest in the rear. The built in TV tuner works pretty well with the stock antenna when I am stationary.

I would say either one would be fine as a lot of DVD player comes with a TV tuner and all you need is a good antenna. The AVelectronic is a great product (very easy to install and most important of all quite a few members here has it install with success)

Thanks for the reply.

Ok, I'll order the System#2!!!!! I called Pyle directly and they said that their dvd players cannot play DVD-R discs. Does your Davis work with DVD-R? Or do you have any suggestions on which brand will have no problems with that format?

I have the Myron & Davis ADVD-160 and have no problem using burned DVD-R discs. I believe the ADVD-183 has a built in tuner but I don't know if it will play DVD-R discs.
