That is no 2006 MDX. It is probably a test mule for hybrid power, or the next generation engine/tranny in a current MDX. But that thing looks just like an 04, minus the fog lights, and with de-chromed headlights/tailights.
What is odd to me, is the modiffied location of the fuel door. |

| Did a little enhancement and it definitely looks like the old body style. Only change I see is the headlights and a driver who is having a hell of a good time! |

I wonder if these rims are also part of new '05/'06 look. The only difference I can tell is the headlights seem to be narrower.

| Go to the website now and you will see they have a new spy photo that shows the front end. The bumper appears to be just taped on and if you notice on the passenger side there is bar frames that don't match the existing interior which hints at the idea that this might be a different vehicle, possibly 06 MDX or RDX hidden under the existing MDX sheetmetal. I think one thing is certain though, they are testing a new engine of some sort, hopefully a V8! |

| In all reality I highly doubt it will "look" like this they usually don't especially with Honda track record of changing design every 5th year or Generation. I belive Ch05e has it right of it being a shell for engine or other testing being done. |

Actually Ch05e's suggestion of an "06 MDX or RDX hidden under existing MDX sheetmetal" is wrong.
The RDX is out already, it is closely related to the CR-V and RSX, so the current MDX sheetmetal wouldn't just bolt right up...not to mention wheelbase and track being totally different.
As for the next gen MDX, it may be possible, but again I doubt the wheelbase (between the old and new) would just match right up.
No doubt these pictures show engine testing of some sort (hybrid/V8 whatever), but no new platforms to speak of. |
