Well I just bought my new MDX today, which is a black unit with the Tech package, which I am not sure if the USA people get, but it basically comes with the Nav system which based on the tester I drove today, works beautifully, a back-up camera and a DVD player for the kids.
It's funny, this is the first year we here in Canada have the Nav system in both the TL and MDX, and I had actually thought it was not worth the extra cash, but after seeing it in action and that beautiful screen and all those functions, and comparing it with the non-nav screen, holy cripes, there is no comparison. It's an expensive toy, but hey, I was breaking the bank buying this vehicle in any event. This is no disrespect to those who do not have the nav, I just personally think it's worth it.
The other dilemma was what colour to get. It was either the slate gray or black. Personally, I like the gray better, but here in Canada we only have a slate gray/ stone combo, or black on black. The way that Acura does the stone interior as compared to the black, IMHO, the black is much more classy looking, and does not have that colour break-up between the upper black dash and stone lower dash. In any event my wife and I chose the black on black, although I know I will regret this choice as it is hard to keep clean.
Anyhow, I hope to have it within a couple weeks.
Oh yeah, I am so excited.:2: |

| Well I have been told my MDX will be in Saturday. A far cry, (one week), from the 3 months you used to have to wait. I will be excited all week.:) |

Don't remind us of those days. . . |

I have the same colour issue and preference as you - would prefer the black interior with the slate gray. So I think I am waiting until the '05 comes out to see if I can get that choice. Also I'm hoping for the bluetooth availability.
What dealer did you buy from and how was your experience. I'm in Toronto too. |

Congratulations!
Would the NAV display appear the same in TL and MDX?
I look at the NAV in Lexus LX430 which costs around 82K. It is no way closed to the one in MDX. Too bad I can't afford it. |

I bought it from Acura 2000 in Brampton. The sales rep is Danny Wong, and the thing I like about him is he does not dick with you, and appears to deal fairly in every aspect. This is my 2nd Acura I have purchased from him. The service here is also good. |

They seem to be similar in size, but to tell you the truth I have never looked at them side by side and as such I cannot advise on a comparison basis.
I am not sure what yu are saying about the Lexus Navi, however I assume it's better, however the MDX Nav is quite impressive IMHO, however this is the only one I have ever used. One cool feature is when the system was telling me where to turn it said " a slight turn right in 800 meters. When I arrived at the intersection there was a merge off ramp as opposed to a 90 degree turn. Can you say COOL. |

| Congrats on the new ride. I too have a black on black MDX with the tech package. Did you get any accessories like running boards or BSM on it? I've had mine for about 7 months. |

I do not have these accessories yet, but will definately add the running boards and front plastic protector. I am also thinking about the mouldings. Do you have accessories and if so where did you get them? I was thinking of getting them here. |

Well, I took possession of my MDX and have driven it only about 100 miles. Firstly I have to say the black is a great colour but my kids keep putting their greasy fingers on it and leave fingerprints. Ahhhhhh, I knew I should have gone with the slate gray. Also while driving home from the dealer a stinking bird hit the side of my X, leaving a bit of a scratch.
Anyway, this thing is awesome. The dashboard is extremely well put together, the nav system works like a dream, the reverse camera is neat but I am still getting used to using it. The kids love the DVD system, and I must say the clarity of the picture and sound is amazing.
I think I have figured out most of the toys and how to use them.
I am extremely pleased on how the X handles and how it makes me drive calmly. When I drive my TL I have more of a need for speed.
The seats are very comforatable and I was pleasantly surprised that it fits nicely into my garage. It's approximately the same length as my TL but it seems wider and much taller.
One question though and I have read most of the manual, but what are those 2 blue lights from the overhead console for?
Anyway, I will report in a week to advise on my X. |

Black and white are great looking colors, but they are so hard to keep clean. BTW, they stop making the slate grey color on the 04 MDX. Those blue lights are ambient lighting, mood lighting if you will. |

Nope, they still have slate gray for 2004, at least here in Canada. In fact it was between that colour and black, and the gray lost out because it had a stone coloured interior. I wanted the black. Thanks for the info on the blue lights. |

BLEXV6,
Welcome to the club!
Just curious, does the 04 MDX Nav covers both Canada and U.S.? The Nav (including the upgrade) on my 01X does not cover Canada. The thing is both the latest Garmin and Magellan GPS includes both countries. |
|
|
| cdorider |
| The 04 nav does cover both the US and CANADA. |

I hear you, it's a very classy colour indeed. The anthracite colour on my TL is also a good look. |

The navigation disc is located in the navi unit under the passengers front seat. You can eject it just like a normal CD.you will likely need to update it in a few years with a new disc. |

| I had the BSM placed on my vehicle today as I was worried about the dings to the door. They look great and look like they should be there. The cost is a small price to pay to avoid the dings. |

Well, cars come with so many different sizes of door that the BSM's height cannot guarantee that it can protect from all of them. |

So true, but these are fairly thick and should at least help, as these are massive doors. |
