OK guys - since you all are so knowledgeable, i hope that you can help me out.. sorry about the long tale to follow. (warning: short story!)

I've been researching wheels for over a month now.. I'm looking for classic looks, lightweight, strength, and low cost.. I'm not asking for too much am I?

Anywayz, i was all settled on getting Centerlines - had everything but low cost, then i discovered that they sell a few overstocks really cheap with full warranties.

So i call them, and the nice lady talks to me about how I wouldn't want to put 20" rims on my car (I had told her that it was an Acura MDX).. sometime into the conversation (all the while she was asking someone off line about the technical questions that i was asking) She finally says something like: Well, we don't have wheels that fit your car - 20" are just too big, and we don't cover import sports cars.
That's when i realized that she had no idea what an MDX was. I politely informed her that the MDX is an SUV. She then said that: No, our wheels won't fit your car cause the FWD wheels we have aren't strong enough for a big heavy SUV like yours.
I politely thanked her and hung up. Flabbergasted.
I wait a week, fire off an email, explain nicely that I beleive that the woman i talked to was very nice, but not knowledgeable, and ask the same questions - basically, what among your stuff for sale fits an MDX. I sent this email off to jason@centerlinewheels.com
I get a nice email from NANCY - thanking me for my email, but NO, they don't make wheels that fit. (Go away!)

So to cut this long story short - am i just unlucky, stupid, or do these wheels really don't fit? :3: I find it really amazing that they wouldn't cover this market.

CenterLine Wheels on sale

You have choose [California] then choose search by bolt pattern 5-4.5"(5 on 4.5" is the 5/114.3 equivalent). I was looking at the Escape or Ace in 20"

My concern was about offset - which they list as "setbacks" . I'm begining to think that the 18" on the page are the only ones that might work (the two Sport Compact ones or the Matrix)... thanks in advance for the input!

My take was she didnt know what she was talking about, or was reading scripted reponses. I have never heard of anyone in the MDX "dub" club having problems.

I suspect that DESPITE the fact that they have posted info for "direct sales" their EMPLOYEES are still used to the the manufacturer-wholesaler-distributor-retailer model that served them for years and years...

ANYHOW here is what I suggest -- if you want the wheels BUT DON'T CARE about the fact that the folks you dealt with were COMPLETE MORONS just go to one of these:

OTOH if you DO care about the MORON factor AND WANT TO FIX IT then my tip is FIND SOMEONE WHO IS CLEARLY NOT LOW MAN ON THE TOTEM -- what I did is tried searching for "CEO Center Line Wheels Inc." that give me some guy who got a SEMA award in 2002. Name was Ray Lipper. Then the Dial-the-name voicemail directory lists NO L_I_P person so that is a dead end. THEN I just started to google for "Center Line Wheels " and I came across this : http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cach...ls+Inc%22&hl=en

GUESS WHAT, Scott Jacqua IS in the voice mail -- SO you should send HIM a note (looks like jacqua@cnetreline.com should work or call hime) & explain that the MORONS who answer the sales emails & phones DON'T KNOW Jack! ASK Scott to hook you up WITH SOMEBODY that he KNOWS has a brain -- odds are EXCELLENT that he will know somebody in the company that can help.

GOOD LUCK!
