I have had my X for 3 weeks now and have 1800 miles on it.
Overall I am pleased. Just had a chance to check tire pressure and sure enough it was 40psi. It had been so warm here I never had a chance to check it "cold"
Having had several "near luxury" cars I have noticed that Acura seems to concentrate on some areas and ignores others
The list that i have would be.
Cornering Lamps
Delayed off headlight
Customize door locking/unlocking
Louder Remote lock indicator
AC fan control not in the touch panel
Smaller buttons for the radio control I am always changing channel by accident
Better dipstick location for motor oil
Full size spare
HID headlights
Sunglass holder
Passenger express up and down window.
Heated seat control on doors. Always seem to get turned on by accident
RDS radio with display of songs played on the CD player
Rear AC switch stay on or off
heated mirrors just turn on with defrosters
Express open/close on sunroof
better rear wiper washer
I think that is about it for me anybody else?

Agree with:
-HID
-Express passenger up/down windows.....even a VW golf has this feature!
-Express open/close sunroof
-AC fan control
Disagree with:
-Seat heater....nothing goes near my switches for fear of scratching the plood! It really is the best location for them.
-Louder door lock indicator......I like the subtleness, it is higher class. I watch for the flash of the lights anyway.
-Heated mirrors with defroster......kinda makes sense to me, saves people from having to hit 2 separate buttons.
-Better rear wiper/washer....I think a "better" one would be an ugly one. |

I did just think of one thing that does piss me off.
I really hate that the doors lock back on their own after hitting the remote "unlock" if you don't physically open the door right away.
I understand that Acura is trying to protect your investment, by locking the vehicle in case a person inadvertently unlocks their car as they are walking away.
But on several occasions, I have opened my front door, remotely unlocked the MDX, only to come inside the house and finish doing what ever I was doing. Then go outside to my locked Acura. And of course I left the keys inside the house. It irks me that my own car outsmarts me! hehe |

I really think that Acura should make the car key more stylish and unique. I don't underestand why there is a unused circle on my remote. I know this button is for the trunk release for some other cars (like TL).
If you look at the Japanese Honda web site, then you will understand the difference:
Honde MDX at Japan
Here is a close look at the car key for Honda MDX at Japan:
It looks nice, right ;) |

That is a good point too, allenlynx.
Even my old CR-V had a power actuated rear window above the tailgate door. When I installed the alarm, I made it so I could pop the rear hatch at the push of a button.
The MDX will never have that capability, because it is a manual mechanism. Never say never, but it would require a bit of work. I have seriously thought about making a remote power opening tailgate on my MDX. But that is probably a pipe dream for now.
Also, I not knocking Honda/Acura....I am still extremely pleased with the overall package of features and quality, and I hate to admit it, but price too. The MDX still holds it's own against Toureg, M class, X5, RX300, and others that cost as much or more.
It is hard for a manufacturer to cram every feature in a car and price it with in reason for the customer. |
