| Having just bought an 04 MDX, I'm concerned that the tranny is solid and not going to be subject to a recall. With the new engine in the 04, is it logical to think that the tranny has been improved or at least altered to accomodate the change? |

Not to dampen your spirits, but you know what they say about death and taxes. |

| 2004 V6 engine added slightly more power and is now rated at 265 horsepower and 253 pound-feet of torque. |

Danpat,
I believe the added hp comes from the new dual exhaust. I don't think there were any (major) modifications the drivetrain itself. Someone correct me if I am wrong. |

I also believe the 5hp increase is due to the exhaust changes...dual exhaust is less restrictive....and there have been some posts that the 5hp increase is more a marketing ploy. The more major engine changes came in the 2003 model which had the larger bump in hp to 260.
As far as the transmission issues go, the predominance of issues is with 2001 and 2002 models. 2003/04 models are using a different tranny coupled with the upgraded engine.
While I'm sure that there have been some reported issues on 2003 and newer, from what I understand, it is a relatively low number and well within the boudaries of normal for the industry. |

| Yup concur with other additional hp comes from newer exhaust. I think manus claimed or did do a dyno after getting a new exhaust for his 01. |
