I've read about the changes for the 04's but am curious, if you had it to do all over again would you go for an 03 and save some dough, or an 04? It seems like there are a fair number of <20,000 mile 03's out there.

(I'm looking for touring and maybe nav or nav/dvd if anyone's dying to sell! )

Also, I'm switching from driving an Audi (fun car, less than stellar reliability) to the X as my long-commute highway cruiser, is there still "fun" to be had in the twisties? I haven't been able to get a long enough test drive to see...

Thanks!

Yes, there's fun to be had in the twisties, but it's no Audi Quattro! It's just a tad taller and wider, and a bit heavier (IIRC, 4300# or so).
The X-men
Acura has been making some pretty major improvments every model year since the 2002, more so than any other SUV manufacturer. In my opinion the 04 is better than the 03 considering the price difference. I would buy the 04 for the side curtain air bags and the dual exhaust.

I bought the 04 over the 03 for various reasons.....one biggie being the side curtain airbags.

I have an '03 that I like so well I have increased the warantee to 100,000 miles and 7 years and plan to keep it for at least 6 years. For me there were not enough improvements in the '04 to warrant a change. There were major changes in the '03 over the '02, primarily Vehicle Stability Assist, HP and the Nav system. Get the Nav system for sure, it is one of the best on the market. You can't believe how much you'll use it, even locally. When I'm in Reno, even though I know the area pretty well, I use it to find the nearest Home Depot, or a Resturant and easy routes to get there. It's DVD based, has about 5 million points of interest and most addresses in the US.
Skip the DVD player, you'd do better to buy a couple of portable ones, and be able to take them from car to car, rather than have them built in.

This is a mostly FWD 4,500 lb vehicle. Twisties? I don't think so.

It's a big, heavy, front heavy SUV. If you are used to a nibble sports sedans, the fun factor will not be there. If I drove the X the way I drive my BMW routinely on the twisties, I'd kill myself!
