I have a 2004 MDX. I was wondering if anyone else has encountered rusting or browning on the inside of the exhaust? Does anyone have suggestions for this?

How many miles does your X have? On the average how long do you drive per session. Could be you don't let you X run long enough to burn off moisture and rust can be starting to gain hold..

I think around 8000 miles. I take it out mostly for 15 minute drives from home to work. I also use it casually here and there.

Is there anything to get rid of it? The orangish/brownish color is bothering me.

Usually the color build up is black because of the fuel being burned, brown is usually a indication of rust. There isnt anything to "remove" it. You can buff out the lips of the exhaust with metal cleaner, but the fact that it is brown. You might want to bring this up at your next appointment.

I also have an '04. I see the exact problem you do. I does bother me, but too much. I considered painting inside the rolled lip of the tip with black high temp paint. But I haven't gotten around to it.

I just keep the rolled tips nice and shiny to draw attention from inside the tip.

I assumed the tips were stainless steel. If they are stainless steel, the fact that they "stain" so easily sucks.

Unless you replace your gasoline motor with a pure water-to-electricity fuel cell the combustionby products will discolor the metal.

Even SS is effected over time, due to the high temp and concentration of reactive compounds in the exhaust. I doubt paint will do much. Even the high-tech coatings eventually discolor.

I think the strategy of keeping the outside EXTRA shiny is about as good as you can do.
