I took my new 2004 Acura RL for a drive to Long Beach from N. Cal over this weekend. Friday we left around 2:30 from the Delta, over the course of the trip we counted 17 MDX's headed North on I-5.

On the return drive to N.Cal Sunday, we counted "29" MDX's on I-5 headed south !!!!!

By the way the RL is DA BOMB, the XM satelite radio is DA BOMB, da 231 longital engine was demanding, she rides smooth as ice....the faster I went the better is got ! WHAT A WELL KEPT SECRET ACURA ! :6: :6: :6: :6: :10: :10: :10: :18: :18: :18: :20: :20:

I'd say I was one of them, but we were headed the other way--coming back up north from down in trafficland...

Glad the RL is worth the $$...

$38K for an 04 RL, I'd say so........:2:

Fab--did you consider the redesign for 05 in your purchase? What made you go with MY04? Necessity, value, or something else?

8 year production run ! Bullet Proof.........90's technology that works ! No transmission woes ! Engine is long ways, with large transmission block. It's a 4 speed, not a five or forth coming 6 speed (complexity/troublesome???????). Didn't want to be another test bed for Acura's new production car ! Done it, did it, been there ! Everyone says......the RL is bullet proof...........Its the last of the Mohicans ( 100% Japan made):1:
Hope I answered your question.....

fabvsix.........Sounds very sensible to me! Glad you like the RL so much. I like how it is an "undercover" car. It doesn't scream "look at me", but it still has the original Acura flair.

By the way, I traversed on I-80, I-680, and I-880 this weekend and also saw quite a number of MDXs. I saw 4 or 5 2004 models. None were Blue Pearl like mine though.

Def., Fab. Thx for the input. Makes perfect sense...and probably a very wise move...

I still have my 03 MDX too ! I got rid of the CL Type S and replaced it with the RL.....

Considering how many people live in both So.Cal. and No.Cal., those numbers aren't huge. That said, I have driven that stretch several times and never seen another MDX. You just happen to catch it. I'll see you on that stretch of road again in December or January. Happy motoring! :D
