Well, I just took a 1000 kilometer trip (600 miles), with my new X and my 2 kids, wife and Mother-In-Law. Firstly, I am used to a car and as such the space is amazing. The DVD system entertained the kids, amd they also connected up their PS2 for further fun. I even listened to a couple of the movies which I had seen before and it was quite entertaining on the 10 hour both way drive. I also found the Navigation system quite entertaining and useful as we went to Quebec and needed to find some places there that we needed the Nav system for. The only disappointing thing about the Nav is that it is fairly limited regarding outlying areas where it could be more useful, due to lack of roads on it's listing. Perhaps this will be overcome in future updates.
The trip system is also quite useful.
Coming from a car, the space in the X is great and relaxes me significantly, and thus the need to speed is very low. I love this vehicle.
One annoying thing I noticed was that at cruising RPM of 2000, their was a very noticeable moan noise that is annoying over time. This was when I had the cruise on, thus maintaining the same speed. I have heard this complaint on Edmunds, but not here and had heard their was already a fix for it, however clearly my X which was built in May 04, does not have it yet. In any event I just reduced my speed below 2000 RPM and the sound went away, so who cares if thats all you have to do.
Other than that, I love this vehicle and am now going out to vacuum it out as my kids have just destroyed the carpet with dirt, (the people who we went to see has a dirt driveway), ahhhh.
Oh yeah, I had a lot of rain on the way on this trip and I will tell you, that auto wiper is great. It works extremely well as do the auto on lights. Lots of toys to play with. A mans dream. |

| The 2000 RPM noise must have hundreds of postings in this forum. Do a search on it and you be sure to find it. The noise is coming from the exhaust piping being strap to tight against the chassis. Alot of owners has modify the rubber exhaust hanger with good result for the most part. |

Thanks, and as you can see I have only been on this site for a short time and did not see previous posts about this, but I did know about it and have heard the dealers have a fix. |
