We returned late Friday evening. Saturday morning I was eger to wake and inspect the vehicle closely. Body wise they did a great job. Detail wise they didn't "exceed" my expectations. Upon inspections, the MDX badge was replaced horribly. The door jam stickers were all gone. One of my upgraded head rest was damaged. Roof liner was punctured where the majority of the impact was (rear passenger door, rear panel. One of the six engine bolt covers is missing (Acura dealership shabby work). The drivers door speaker rattles too !
It is hard for me to judge the X when I've been driving a 04 RL, as it rides much quieter and smoother....so Ideally if someone was in my area who owns a 03 or 04 MDX could drive it and tell me yeah or neah......I spent Saturday detailing the X, to wake up Sunday with a thunder storm and a cold ! Pictures will have to wait till I feel better and clean the X for it's debut !

Thanks for the update. Looking forward to see the pics.

Not surprised that they blew it on the details, that's what I was talking about. It will probably take a few trips back before things are very close to as they were. I kept finding things every few times that I drove it for a few months. Little things like my bumper was not straight, windshield washer did not work correctly, fog lights didn't work at all, etc. Keep working on them. Glad you at least got it back and it looks good. :2:

I'm trading it in on a brand new plastic wrapped 05 MDX Black on Black with Navi and RES ! They are building it right now and will have it no later than 11-20-04. They gave me $31,000.00 for my X (no questions asked). I'm glad this nightmare is OVER !
Pictures to come at the time of delivery ! :1:

Oh by the way, I finally looked at the new 05 RL. NOT interested as I like the previous generation WAY better in terms of sleak and classic. It looks too much like the Accord or the TL. As I pulled up I didn't even notice them until my salesmans pointed it out. They had one side by side of a TL, they were so much identical in terms of body design......I'll keep my 04 RL !
No thanks Acura !

The 04 RL is hardly sleek, but classic yes. I like the 04 model, but to me the 05 looks way nicer, but not worth the cash. The cost is approaching or similar to a 5 series BMW, and I think people will choose the BMW instead. Acura has always held the line on price which made it attractive to me. The MDX is a great deal, compared to say a BMW X seies, BMW SUVs, or Lexus'. i think if the price is similar, Acura will have troubles selling same.

As many of you knew, I had wrecked my 2003 X two months ago. Today I ordered an exact replacement but an 2005 (Touring Black/Ebony Navi/Res) MDX. The trade in is decent. It just wasn't the same nor did it meet my standards. I have my new one no later than 11-20-2004, as it's being built now. The other thread was just too long, so I thought I'd update you guys with this one !
On another note I saw for the first time in person the 2005 RL. Nice but I'll keep my 2004 for now !

Wow ! No excuse for that stuff. Did you have to tell them which side you were hit on too ? I'd be out of that thing in a heartbeat too.

Fabvsix,
Q: How did the numbers work out for you going from the 2003 MDX to a new 2005 MDX?

Excellent, I would have done the same thing as you, best of luck with the new wheels and looking forward to hearing your impression on the '05.:7:

I was prepared for somewhat of a rape. But since I'm a good customer, I mean GOOD known customer to this particular dealership, they gave me an excellent trade, as they will wholesale the X. BTW, it looks FAB ! Still looked like a new X. Only had 12,200 California miles. NEVER saw a dirt road, NEVER used VTM (off road etc....), NEVER saw a car wash, only washed by me by hand in my driveway and ONLY ZAINO products used, so they took care of me....I will disclose those numbers once I have the new X at home in November. Also if you remember, I brought it to "their" body shop thats been in business since 1956 to present. One of the BEST shops in Northern California. They did a superb job......it just ain't the same......I'll go more into details ONCE I have the 05 at home. You live and you learn.
So after speaking to Tim, the following parts will NOT fit in the new X, therefore I'll be selling them at a bargan price:
PIAA highbeams, low beams and fog's (I rarely drove the X at night)
Stay tuned !

WOW, that's real closure. It will put the whole thing behind you for sure. I'm not quite ready to take that big of a hit right now. Interesting that you choose to stay with Acura after a few have recently left. Glad that you realize that it was the circumstance, not the vechicle that caused problems. The new one will work out well.

In all honesty, the MDX did its job of protecting us in a serious accident. Being broad sided by a Lincoln Town car at 40 mph, having not flipped over, I was very pleased. Side curtain airbags are real attractive now ! :1:

Congrats Fabsix. It sounds like "all's well that ends well"! Could be a blessing in disguise! :2:

If you are looking for a new insurance company and don't mind paying more for the coverage, you might want to take a look at Chubb insurance.

You can get much higher coverage limits and their service is excellent. They are the only insurance company I have seen that is extra quick to pay up. Plus, they allow you to pick any body shop of your choice and they recommend that you use OEM parts (some insurers charge you extra for OEM or slap you with "betterment"). But remember, they charge quite a bit more for their services...

Fabsix - Glad this is almost all behind you. As others have said, eventually you'll come out whole with the insurance company. I had a somewhat similar accident with my '01 CL about 2 years ago. I have CSAA insurance and have absolutely no complaints. They totaled out my car within one day and I had a check in my hand within a week. I actually got HIGHER than high blue book and about $800 more than the retail price of a similar CL on my dealers lot. Total cost to drive the C: for 2 years was about $4K. The offenders insurance company (Mercury) sent me a separate check for my deductible almost immediately. Then a few months ago I got another check for my deductible from MY insurance company. I called them about it (I know - pretty stupid!) but they said they were paid in full by the other company and the deductible check is mine. I had another minor accident (no damage) when a friend returning from dropping me off at the airport cut someone off in traffic and rear-ended them. They didn't want police at the time but later filed a medical claim. The CSAA adjuster jumped in and denied the claim. End of that. I bought my MDX to replace my CL. Glad you're getting a new '05 X. For most of us, these are once in a lifetime experiences!

My dad was driving his 2002 MDX when some idiot t-boned his back wheel causing it to snap off and the x to spin out of control. There is sufficient body damage and god knows what internal damge. He hit the rear passenger wheel. Just wonderin if anybody has had a similar experience? What internal damage or other damage may have occured. Thanx in advance:D
