I see this brand of speakers "Klipsch" at Best Buy.

How do you pronounce it?

Is it a good speaker?

Where is the company originally from?

Thank you.

It is basically pronounced just as it is spelled. Klip-sch.

The are great speakers. Klipsch speakers have long been considered one of the best. Years ago they only made high-end reference and studio speakers for the true audiophile. Now they do make some less expensive but still high quality speakers. I have some Klipsch speakers and they are great. I would love to own a pair of their older speakers but don't have that much cash.

Klipsch are good speakers. I have the Klipsch promedia computer speakeres and they are awsome.

I suggest visiting www.klipsch.com and see some of their high end stuff.

I would not use the setup at BB to review how good the speakers are. Go to a higher end audio/video store and you will get a much better sample.

vlam is correct, if you really want to hear the Klipsch speakers, go to a specialty retailer and listen to the Reference series. They are a better sounding speaker. The series BB carries is the Synergy which is the entry line. All Klipsch speakers exhibit great efficiency, so you can get some serious sound without the need for huge amps. As far as where they are from, the speakers are built in Hope, Arkansas.

Klipsch speakers are extremely efficient speakers and do a good job with higher frequencies. Bass and mid-range, not so good.

When you go to listen to the speakers at a audio store (not BB), take along some of your own CD's. Have them hook up the speakers to an amp similar with what you have at home and take a listen to the music you brought. I think you'll find that if you like rock, country, jazz, etc...there may be better choices. While you're there, you might even have the sales guy hook up some other speakers through an A-B switch so you can compare back-to-back with another brand.

One last comment. Bose sucks. The only people who will say different are trying to sale them to you are they were already suckered in and misery loves company.

Klipsch speakers may not be right for you, depending upon your musical tastes, but in my experience quite a few guys who like to "rock out" really like the Klipsch speakers. They are a good choice for people who are running their speakers with a receiver. We carry other brands such as B&W, and I would say they sound better to me, but as far as the floor standing or any Nautilus series speakers, they don't really shine without using separate amps to power them. This can be quite costly. IMHO the Klipsch speakers are worth listening to.

So what do you audiophiles recommend for a home theater system in a secondary family room that is 20 x 18 with a 18 ft ceiling? We've got a 32"Sony XBR TV there that I want to add DVD & music too that can second source the patio area off of it. Buddy of mine has a Bose that he was pushing as the best but I wasn't convinced. I've got NHT Super One's with a Paradigm 12" Sub in the main home theater area and don't want/need to invest that same amount here.

For home theatre I highly recommend Definitive Technology.

Also pretty good for Pop/Rock, For Jazz & Classical, not so good.

I'll agree with the Paradigm.....you just can't get better for home theater!

Although.....I prefer using actual theater SPEAKERS ;)

These are going to be the centerpiece of my HT setup, along with a projection TV that I have to drive to Detroit to get. Using these with a movie is the most incredible HT experience you can have :D

If cost is a factor, check out PSB. Very good speakers for the money.

Pronounced clip-sh.

An engineer friend of mine had a pair of huge Klipschorn speakers in his living room. So big they took up most of the room.

Personal experience: They're excellent speakers if you like to listen to the "Rock You Like a Hurricane" by the Scorpions from a block and a half away!

I had a Pair of the older "Corner Horns" at one time and those baby's Rocked.... I tried a pair of the "Cornwalls " and was resonably pleased with the output..At the present Im using a Pair of Polk Monitor 2's in my Recording studio with a Kicker Box for the Sub "Stuff" The Polks have more Bang for the buck In my honest opinion By the way its Pronounced" Clip..sh " see ya Galaxy
